Re: Anyone know what is going on with Balancas?

I've been a few times and really enjoy the place. I agree KC could use more of these lounge style places. My friends and I have made this place followed by Kill Devil into a nice 1-2 combo of an evening several times. I've only been on the weekends, but it has always had a nice draw. Never felt too ...

It also changed hands. No longer with the original owners family. I haven't tried it yet.

Re: Film Row building threatened with demolition

Until someone can explain why a garage couldn't be built on the site of one of the surface lots, no. I'm also skeptical about promises of redevelopment out of SH. She begged the previous owner of the Orion to sell, with promises of preservation and redevelopment. And here we are. She also knows wha...

Re: Film Row building threatened with demolition

Question: If this garage allows 3 surrounding surface lots to be developed with structures (as they say it will), is it worth it in your opinion?

USMNT plays to a draw in Mexico to earn a crucial point for World Cup Qualifying play. Sporting player Graham Zusi cements himself as an integral player on the squad and local boy Matt Besler has his coming out partying in a stellar showing against a hostile crowd--likely secures himself a regular s...

Re: 2013 NCAA Tourney

Totally stupid question, but why is the Missouri Valley Conference the "host school" for Kansas City when there is not a MVC school within 200 miles of here and we don't host their conference tournament? Couldn't UMKC use some good pub as the "host school"? Also funny that all t...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

Thats a good question.

I know that the taxes levied w/n the TDD are supposed to cover the operational cost of the starting line (for now), but I'm not certain if that cost is also reflected in the initial estimate given for construction (i don't know how it could be, but just thinking aloud).

Don't forget, south of the highway was the preference of many decision makers not too long ago. Forget the P&L. If one is built it will be south of the highway. More likely north of 16th between Baltimore and Wyandotte. Or south of there between 16th and 17th. Could even extend to Main. Or even...

Re: Proposed apartment for 13th and Walnut

I wonder if they have an equity partner lined up? Typically at this stage the developer (Cordish) is seeking equity financing from a limited partner (in this case it will need to be an opportunistic investor, generally in the form of a private equity real estate fund). In a typical 90/10 JV structu...
