Re: Can KC Secede and join Kansas?
I have spent my entire life here & have zero loyalties to any state, probably more loyalty to my city than my country as well. There is nothing uniquely Missouri about this area any longer. It's all the overarching Kansas City metro. That Missouri is rural & not a big fan of us, & every...

Re: The KCMO School District
Sad to see him go. Those reasons for him leaving are interesting because I cannot think of anywhere in America he wouldn't be kept awake by them.

Re: Trees in KC (ongoing)
Purely anecdotal, but it really seems like we are losing a lot of trees/limbs with every storm this year.

Re: Troost developments
It was in very rough shape before, but not so rough that MAC wasn't trying to loop it into the rest of the development there. Abnos turned down a huge offer for the building. According to Parcel Viewer, there's no permit on that property for buildback work, which seems pretty typical for him. Not su...

What, specifically? You're always vague about this.

Re: Troost developments
He /may/ still own the building(s) on the SW corner of Troost and 32nd Terrace, and the building east of the MAC building in Squier Park. The old LLC he used only shows a couple properties, but he may have just spun the properties to different LLCs he controls.

Re: Troost developments
Shame the city allowed the owner of the old car wash on the opposite corner to turn it into a storage unit.

Re: Broadway
Seems that the city traffic people would like a curb cut on Broadway even less. From experience: 1. KCMO traffic engineers and Land Development don't like much of anything. 2. With a halfway decent rationale, you can get a project approved over their complaints. The L-shape building would still have...

Re: Broadway
Um. The original building had an entry that was almost on the sidewalk at Broadway. The ambient nonsense at that intersection hasn't changed in years. Gomer's was always being graffitied, always dealing with the bus stop, always dealing with "street people". If their 2011 building design w...

The MAC project will also come back.SilentSpades24 wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 8:32 pm Pardon me for being a bit ignorant here, but what (if any) is the next path forward for this project? Well, for this project and others like the MAC project on Armour & Main? Are these just dead or is there other hope for them?

Re: Broadway
The building predates the boulevards design standards.

Re: Broadway
Gomers has plenty of spaces. The lot is just designed badly so they are kind of close to each other. Most people are at a liquor store for less than 20 minutes. Not sure why they think they need more parking. If they expand onto their current parking lot, that may be under the required number of sp...

Sure. But it’s not like he can point at things and they just happen. Anecdata, but I’ve noticed that the road striping throughout the city is in terrible condition. That’s all in PW’s court.

I get where you're coming from but it's worth remembering that he's basically the reason there is a cycletrack or bike lane anywhere in KCMO.
