NE Johnson County
One problem is that a lot of the NE JoCo housing stock is at a crossroads. In Fairway, a prime example is the Mission Highlands subdivision, which is almost entirely 70-year-old, two- or three-bedroom, one-bath houses, usually selling for between $110K and $130K. For most families with more than one...

Phxcat, how does Phoenix compare to KC? I've never been there except the airport, but considering the growth rate -- 1 million-plus new residents in the 1990s -- there must be something drawing people. What is it? Jobs? Climate? Cost of living? All of the above?

I agree with Trailerkid's comments about "the areas that everyone notices," but I'd stretch the definition of "outsiders" to include people who have lived in metro KC for years yet apparently never venture outside of their corner. For example, on any given Monday, my wife tells h...

Northland a big part in making KCMO a very large city soon.
I live in Fairway, and my wife and I have looked at homes in the older neighborhoods that ring downtown Liberty. All in all, Liberty seems to be a great place. My impression is that regardless of whether you're looking at older areas or new subdivisions, you get a lot more house for your money than ...

Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction
I agree, Kcgridlock. The NHL is overpriced, and the AHL isn't a league for has-beens and never-beens. The AHL is great hockey.

Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction
It's worth remembering that although a new arena got us the Scouts and Kings, the arena had little to do with why we lost them. The Scouts left because the owner couldn't afford to field a winning team, so attendance was poor. The Kings left because the NBA was still basically a minor-league sport, ...

Union Hill/Trinity Lutheran site
A month or so ago, there was some talk of condos and/or offices there. Check the on-line archives of the Kansas City Business Journal, which I believe had an article on it.

Bummer. I was looking forward to having more cams to choose from. Overland Park and a lot of other suburbs have extensive networks of cams that they use for traffic planning, but as far as I know, there's no way to access them from outside of their private LANs. There used to be a cam in the parking...

The Scout statue isn't getting a cam. "Kansas City Scout" is the name of the new traffic monitoring and information service that's being deployed around the metro. See www.kcscout.net .

Best Weatherperson on TV?
All KC newscasts are simply awful because they all have this fetish gor live reports. Their reporters look ridiculous doing so many live reports when only 10% of the time there's still something going on at the scene. Is that supposed to make me think that they're on top of things? Good grief!

Let's not lump all of JoCo into the same basket. I agree 100% that anything south of 95th or 119th is cookie-cutter, but Northeast JoCo is great. I live in the northwest corner of Fairway, and I can walk to a mall, a movie theater, a large grocery store, dozens of restaurants, and dozens of shops. T...

Does anybody know the history of the Hobby Lobby and Hy-Vee stores in Mission? Was the current Hobby Lobby store originally the Hy-Vee store? What buildings (if any) were at the current Hy-Vee location? Just curious. Thanx.

I know that there's not enough demand for it now, but a couple of years ago, weren't there plans to add a fourth terminal? If so, does anybody have any info to post?

I found this site in Google Image, where I was searching with "Kansas City" and "skyscrapers."
