Re: Camera help and commets, please.

I read somewhere that Nikon is going way heavy onto the digital side, keeping only one or two of their film-based cameras. If anyone cares (actually, even if nobody cares), Nikon just came out with a D80. It costs the same as my D70 did 1.5 years ago, but it boasts 10.2 megapixels. Here's the link: ...

Beautiful pictures! They are right down my alley. The white flower looks like a wedding dress.

Here are five more pictures, all taken at Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead. Re: How did you get your job?

Rats! Lock beat me to the draw! Here's what I was going to say, but I'll say it, anyway. (I'd already typed and proofed it.  :( ) I have come to the conclusion that success can be elusive to some people in spite of how hard they work. "Success" is relative. However you define it, it certai...

Re: Wedding songs

http://www.yousendit.com/ Thanks, Tosspot. I can email the file okay. I just don't know how to put it where a forumer could listen to it. I checked with Opera's site to see if there was a way to post MP3 files as there is for photos, but nothing jumped out at me. Also, I fear violating any copyrigh...

Re: Wedding songs

On an aside, what did everyone else here (who is married) use in their wedding? At my first wedding, in 1963, my friend--an exceptional pianist--played Liebestraum , by Franz Liszt. It means "Love Dream" in German. Very elegant. Nice. At my second wedding, some smarta$$ played the disco v...

Re: Wedding songs

We're having a tough time thinking of good wedding songs for our upcoming wedding. We need something for our first dance. I know its supposed to be a song that's personal to you, but we're both pretty cynical, and don't have "our song." We want to do something different, not the same song...

The following came from a friend's forwarded email a while back: [----- Mujibar was trying to get a job in India. The Personnel Manager said, "Mujibar, you have passed all the  tests, except one. Unless you pass it you cannot qualify for this  job." Mujibar said, "I am ready."   ...

Re: Gauge Your Cultural Literacy

I work for a large company. They are making a huge effort to attract employees who can speak Spanish. And they want existing employees to learn it. They include a new Spanish word every week in their newsletter. If you want to sell something, you'd better be able to speak the language or your custom...

My husband's client is The Roanoke Times . So I've been made aware that newspapers must be printed and delivered every, single day after day after day. There are no holidays, no real time off. Press goes down? Too bad. Everybody drive to Greensboro and use the auxiliary press there. Subscribers migh...

Re: All these new condos...isn't anybody developing affordable apartments?

(I'm not knowledgeable enough to say anything here, but logic has never stood in my way.) I seem to remember home owners in California losing their butts because they had paid a lot for their homes, only to see the housing market drop precipitously. Those who wanted to move couldn't sell their overp...

Nice pix... 8) Thanks, TK. Fiddling with my pictures seals the experience in my mind. I keep a digital frame on my desk at work which displays photos retained on any sized flash media. (I had an extra 1GB card I bought with my Nikon D70.) I set it to display a new picture every ten seconds. I've go...

Re: Missouri Wine Country

Both my parents' cars were stick shifts when it came time for me to learn, so I had no choice. I hated it at first because I'd kill it as the traffic light at a busy city intersection would turn green, then panic, restart the engine, and gun it like hell, screeching tires and burning rubber. But I'...

I'll be damned, a lady in her sixties who likes a manual transmission. Never thought I'd see the day. This makes you special, in a good way. My 79 year old grandmother says she's too old for stick shifts, my 87 year old grandmother can only drive a car into a ditch and nowhere else, my aunt never l...
