Re: OPK Proposed 15 Square Mile Annexation
I wouldn't say OP is dense at all... Sure, denser than rural land, but not dense at all. I agree. But the fact that KCMO is actually less dense than OP, is sort of an eye-opening factoid puts things in perspective for me about how far we have to go. I recognize there are big chunks of land (floodp...

Re: OPK Proposed 15 Square Mile Annexation
I am not a fan of perpetual sprawl. But the city fathers are responsible that the tax base to be assured in the decades ahead. As far as sprawl or annexation control made for our area, Kansas City MO would be the number one culprit. OPKs density within the city limits would still be greater tha...

Oh...I'm afraid the deflector shield will be quite operational when your friends arrive. Please purchase a pair of these "emperor's hands" latex gloves. Then, wear them to any important meeting at work where you can sit with your hands crossed in front of you on a conference room table i...

i kinda would rather go the soylent green way. it looked nice and peaceful in the movie. And , you'd get to live on as a tasty cracker. Mmm. I'm pretty sure we'll never degenerate to the Soylent Green level though, because unbeknownst to us all this time, cardboard is edible! BEIJING, China (AP) -...

Re: suicide at liberty memorial
perhaps the fed should provide suicide kits for an assured, clean death. govt-issue phenylbarbitol + a small bottle of vodka = no more splattered sidewalks or grisly gunshot wounds. Futurama solved this issue with the suicide booth. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/62/Suicide_Booth.JPG h...

I keep seeing an old station wagon down in the River Market with an excessive number of hood ornaments bolted on it. Many of them appear to be snake heads. Don't suppose that belongs to anyone on here?

alcohol/drugs + guns + tempers = violence Don't forget the lead! This article correlates lead exposure with violent crime. Their theory is that lead poisoning as an infant harms the development of the brain, damaging areas that otherwise help a person control impulsive behavior. The convincing p...

I'm in Minneapolis right now. It's been six years, since I have been here last and the amount of new development in downtown Minneapolis is just incredible. I think if the tables had been turned and you had left Kansas City for 6 years then come back, you would be impressed at all the changes that ...

Some women today (and I stress, some ) think that they're giving up a ton by letting go of their Father's last name. B/c as you know, that's what it really boils down to. Why should a man commit his life, his wealth, and his sexual fidelity, to a woman who thinks her father's name is more importan...

Re: weather alerts via time warner cable
The alert on time warner sounds like an alarm clock. One of my least favorite sounds in the world (shudder). On the weather topic (loosely), I'm relatively impressed by the new radar imagery they've had available for the past few weeks on weather.com. It overlays the rain data on a google-earth-st...

What would the metro rank if Buchanan and Douglas counties were added? The ranking is not by metro area but by individual incorporated cities. So adding counties to the metro wouldn't affect it. Rank Place Population 30 Oklahoma City 537,734 31 Portland 537,081 32 Tucson 518,956 33 Albuquerque 50...
