Re: Top 3 Movies You've Watched in the Past Month

It is excellent.   Certainly worth enduring the subtitles (which stop bothering you about 3 minutes into the movie).   Best movie I have seen all summer. Glad to know that it's good.  Subtitles don't really bother me to begin with, I watch tons of subtitled movies.  I might try to catch it this wee...

Re: The City was hopping tonight

It's definitely midnight or 1, we tried to go there after a night of heavy drinking a few months ago and found it dark.  Got someone to drive us to Chubbys instead, which was probably a better choice anyway.

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You completely missed my point. We have a pretty damn good defensive 1b with Ross Gload, and we have PLENTY of options for 1b in the near future.  Now the problem is DH.  Who on this team can really crush a ball ((Don't even begin to say Guillen...a .270 lifetime BA and a great arm warrents an outf...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Homerun statistics are just as irrelvant as RBI's.  Against the Sox, his homeruns were just unitentionally struck long fly balls that just so happened to clear the fence. Just like in Oakland, his sac fly in the 10th to score the runner was just a lazy pop up into the oufield that just so happened ...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You obviously have no idea how bad it can be when you are continually being pulled and placed in different spots in the lineup and the field every day.  There's a reason utility players don't normally bat a great number.  Its pretty clear that the royals managemnt have screwed up this one.  Teahen ...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Grudzielanek is now on the DL with a severely sprained right ankle.  Jason Smith called up to replace him on the roster, Yabuta DFAed to make room for Smith on the 40 man roster.  Looks like Esteban German might get some more regular at bats after all.

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shealy totally slipped my mind, he's a decent option for first base too (.286/.371/.488/.859 at Omaha), though I also agree with Lenexa about Butler.  He wasn't Doug Mientkiewicz with the glove or anything, but he was surprisingly decent at first base.  Really if it were up to me Butler would be the...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who wouldn't take Guillen over Teahan? Teahan is not producing nor has he consistently since that half season 2 years ago. I don't especially want either one of them right now.  Put Guillen on the DL, send Teahen to AAA (doesn't he still have an option left or am I wrong about that?), outfield of G...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kinda - but where you bat in the order has a lot to do with how many times you will bat with RISP.  If two players both get the exact same amount of hits but one of them had twice as many RISP in their at bats, does that somehow mean that he is a better batter than the other?  Not only that, but th...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

shut your damn mouth midtown cat. the man DOES NOT LEAD MLB IN OPS AND OBP. HE CLEARLY IS NOT WORTH 12M A YEAR. CLEARLY. nevermind the fact that 12m gets you that nowadays, what guillen is doing. it will not get you tori hunter. so save that shit. because so many major leaguers drive in 6 consisten...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Credit where credit is due"?  He hit a lazy fly ball with the bases loaded and fewer than two outs.  There is nothing remarkable about the accomplishment and if it occurred in any other context (and it does, quite frequently), you wouldn't even be talking about it.  I'm glad he drove in t...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree - he's been disappointing. But, I don't think any one hitter has much of a chance in our lineup. If Gordon and Butler could figure out how to be consistent major league 3/4 hitters - I think Guillen would set up well as a good 5 hitter. And be worth the money. As it stands now, he's really ...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you are exactly like your co anchor on espn, phuquee. wayyyy to much stock in percentages. those can and do get padded by meaningless at bats in games you are way up or way down. trust me, we need to keep guillen. still never understand why royals fans are obsessed with running talent out of town i...

Re: NOBODY cares about the Wizards

"The Washington Nationals have a brand new stadium.  Too bad nobody shows up, as they only average 29,000 fans per game."   The Royals would kill for that kind of attendance!!!  In fact, don't most teams average about 29,000 fans? The Royals would kill for that kind of attendance, but the...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually think it might be his efforts to strike people out more that is ultimately hurting him.  It has looked at times as though he has heard the chatter about his lack of "strikeout stuff" and gone out of his way to try and prove that he can do it.  But the change in his approach jus...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I am definitely not sold on Bannister.  All winter long we kept hearing about how he was just getting lucky last year, he had an unsustainably low BABIP, etc, and Bannister contending that he can control his BABIP more than people realize and he'll do fine.  He looked great for his first few s...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mitch Maier called up to fill in for Gathright, who is now on the DL with a shoulder injury.  Maier was hitting .316/.366/.470/.835 in Omaha with nine homers and twelve stolen bases.  It shouldn't be too hard for him to outperform Gathright or Teahen (or even Guillen lately) with the bat, so hopeful...

Re: The state of Texas : Mexico can have it back

Their statehood treaty actually gives them the right to seceed and become a republic again at any time - only state with such an option.  Perhaps we can convince them to exercise it someday.  I've read that this is actually a myth.  However, the annexation treaty does allow for Texas to be split in...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ERA is kinda deceptive for relievers. I remember a study at Baseball Prospectus that showed that Jason Grimsley in 2003, despite having a solid ERA and being one of Tony Pena's most trusted relievers, was one of the five worst relievers of all-time at allowing runners he inherited to score. I had t...
