Re: Ozark Building / AC Hotel by Marriott at 9th and Grand
I hope the operator will make a real attempt with the first floor restaurant. So many failed attempts downtown: both Indigo's, Marriott, Westin, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Phillips, President, etc. To be fair, didn't the Westin give their big destination restaurant the boot back in the 90s? It's one of th...

Does Hall's even make a profit anymore? If Crown Center would shut it down and rent that space to Target, it would allow a bigger Target store and there would be no concern over parking. Halls on the Plaza was a known moneymaker. I think the fact that the Crown Center store was downsized for a thir...

Re: Brookridge Golf Redevelopment
Grocery Store part of phase 1. Likely won't be a big box grocer as Hy Vee and Walmart are close by and not much parking is provided. I'm guessing (hoping) a specialty higher end brand? Would be a good spot for a Dean & Deluca. Isn't Dean & Deluca dead? I mean we had one in Leawood that went...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
With all the changes going on at the Plaza, will the string of vacant storefronts east of Pennsylvania on the south side of Nichols Road be filled (Victoria Secret et al spot)? Seems like that should be one of the more desirable spots on the Plaza. I wonder if the Capital One Cafe is earmarked for ...

The balcony issue cannot be liability unless it is due to maintenance issues. The balconies are designed to be functional and were. It may be related to this from years ago: https://www.kmbc.com/article/man-dies-after-falling-17-stories-from-westin-crown-center-hotel/3671217 Could be, but they were...

Goodcents is very good for cold subs. Jersey Mike’s is just a touch better, than Jimmy John’s. Subway is ok if you have no choice Capriotti's,Which Wich,East Coast Subs. Milo's or others not in area. Capriotti’s is here. Tried it for 1st time at the Liberty location. Very good. There used to be Whi...

Walked the Legends shopping district for the first time in quite a while and was shocked at how much the property on the whole has deteriorated. Trash everywhere and overall condition is in some pretty rough shape. Hopefully, they have some capital improvements dollars socked away because it needs ...

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner
A close friend who is currently a remote worker for Cener still doesn't know when they'll have to go back to the office, how often they'll have to go, or if they'll ever have to go. They're being told that there's no space for them at the new campus, there's no space for them in Lee's Summit, and th...

Panera in Brookside had sign today saying they are closed for good. Over in St. Louis, Paneras/Bread Cos have been closing if they don't have a drive thru. That might be the case over in KC too. Ones in high pedestrian traffic areas like the Central West End, had theirs closed because of no drive t...

Better than nothing I guess. Meanwhile, Towne East in Wichita is landing Daily Thread and Earthbound, both stores with no presence at Oak Park. Simon is also renovating Towne East, which was last updated alongside Oak Park. CBL really needs to do something about the water-scared ceilings and tired c...

Re: Old KCPS HQ - 12th & McGee
Wait, if Copaken Brooks can't get anything done for over a decade at 13th & Grand , a much more prolific and viable spot, why would anyone think they can get anything done on this parcel? Obviously less $$ will be spent at the old KCPS site, is that why? I don't know why anyone is surprised tha...

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner
South KC was the high growth suburban area of KC at one time. Raytown was top suburb with good schools. South KC went from rapid growth to none at all literally overnight because the city put a shit ton of section eight housing out there in the Ruskin/Hickman Mills area and created mass white fligh...

In the meantime most of what I’m seeing on social media lines up with my opinion that the church should be converted to another use rather than demolished. A dense mixed use project is better suited behind the Sharaton or on the Nordstrom site. Heck, demolish the ugly Saks building and the mutilated...

That’s interesting… It’s almost certain that rack would leave the Lenexa center it’s in now across from the mall. CPWM might be looking to exit Martin City as that strip has been dying for a while now. It’s a good thing that area never became the mall Simon wanted to build there.

JCPENNY's? Burlington Coat Factory? Stage is coming back but doesn't mean KS/MO so is Boston Store bigger and better. In like Iowa/Wisconsin,OK,Arkansas has stores not in area. Ward Parkway Shops already has TJMAXX,Ross,Old Navy. Burlington at the Plaza is laughable. was Lenscrafters? LensCrafters ...
