Re: OFFICIAL: East Village downtown neighborhood
If he doesn't pay the tax bill, then the city can seize his property for unpaid taxes. Then, not only does the city make some cash, they get the property.

Re: OFFICIAL: East Village downtown neighborhood
Well, if the owner is putting the value of his property at $17 million, then the city should oblige him by assessing his property at 17 million for tax purposes.

Re: Kelsey Smith abduction
the thing to remember about this is that it was so out of the ordinary that, yes you must be viligant, but no you do not have to be terrified and paranoid every time you leave the house. We don't live in a society that has gangs of wack-jobs prowling the streets looking for defenseless young people...

Maybe not the Bloch building, but a great educational aspect for the museum to promote; perhaps a permanent display educating people about this, with a great exhibit.

It looks like there will be a gate on Grand at the loading dock. If they design the gate right, it could be pretty cool.

they did occupy several buildings between 7th and 8th street on Minnesota. I worked with a couple of students who had summer internships there.

Re: KC gay pride and street fest is June 1-3.
Daddy's suuucks. Which is too bad, its a great space and the outdoor patio would be great, if it were run by different people. I was kind of surprised at the "blandness" of the booths. banking, financial planning, real estate, insurance, was mostly it. KCMO health department had a good bo...

Re: Bridging the Loop
Capping the freeway, as opposed to just building a structure across it would be a different thing entirely and would be sole responsibility of the highway department, right? So it would all be mostly federal funds for the interstate?

Re: I-670 bridges beautification
The city wanted (before the funk era) to build the expansion by 2012. It was high on the priority list for the previous council, along with a convention hotel, which is also seriously threatened now. Ah, ok. I hadn't realized that Funkhouser had said he was stopping the Bartle expansion and the co...

The new federal courthouse is east of 94th. As is the EPA building, and the new EPA lab. What part of the KCK urban core, east of 435 would you propose demolishing to build a large sports facility that has been proposed? Or should Wyco emulate Jackson County and KCMO and spread out their attractio...

I don't think its any more than general talk at this time. When they do expand, thats where the expansion is going. I don't think there is a timeline at this point.

Won't the proposed Bartle expansion be on the west side of Broadway when its built? That would be the logical time to completely rework Broadway, since it would run between the two halls.

It can't be a very large surface lot, can it? 360 does some cool things, this could be very nice. It'll be interesting to see if the buildings are designed so that other structures can be built on the surface lot when the demand is there.
