KCMO breaks 1,000 single family permits in July

No way to tell that from the pages I was looking at, Bahua. I made a mistake in the post: those numbers include each year's July count rather than ending on July 1 like I said. Also, the formatting didn't hold. The last three numbers on the KC lines are the subtotals for Missouri, Kansas, and Johnso...

Photo definition of KC Neighborhood boundaries

Lightfoot Photography does - or at least did - great aerial photos of KC. As of June, 1999 they were located on the east side of the main drag that runs north out of Riverside. I don't know if they still do aerial photos or if they do anything digital, but it might be worth checking out.

A concept for the high-density, New Urbanism-style development was approved by the Lenexa Planning Commission ...

This is probably old news to everybody, but if you like photos of old KC and haven't checked out the archives on the KC Library Website, you're really missing a treat. Some incredible stuff going back a hundred years or so. Also, some never-before-seen views of the city taken from kites at http://ww...

Bed, Bath, & Beyond? What the HELL is Highwoods doing?

I was in Saks around Christmas. First of all, there's nothing there anymore but women's things - clothing, shoes, perfume, jewelry and such. Second of all, there was so little in there that I wondered if they were selling the stock and getting ready to close the store. Looked like it. I realize that...

Bed, Bath, & Beyond? What the HELL is Highwoods doing?

My first response to the B, B and B announcement was disgust, too. Then I got to remembering what the plaza used to be like - before saks, etc. It was always nice, and had some really expensive stores, but also served a neighborhood shopping center function. Filling stations, Sears, Sears automotive...

2nd Alameda Tower

It does seem like the general direction DST is moving, both geographically and the nature of the development. If Highwoods still owns it, maybe DST will pick it up like you say. They got Kirkwood Circle from Highwoods, right? I'm not sure Highwoods does any residential. To tell you the truth, I'm no...

OFFICIAL: Alameda Towers Twin proposed

Does anyone know who owns the property or development rights for what was supposed to be the second Alameda Tower? It was supposed to have a twin. The pad is there right just to the southwest of the current tower. Sure would like to see that built. I know the model was in the Nichols office when the...

Treadway location

Treadway is a rather small apartment building on the east side of Brookside (I'm having trouble seeing the exact location in my mind, but I think it's just east of the old trolley tracks) a few blocks south of the Oak Towers. Much smaller. Dark brick I think. Maybe 6-8 stories. Easy to miss.

The Crestwood Condos (Treadway Hall)

I see that Treadway Hall, former UMKC midrise dorm, at 5401 Brookside Blvd. will be converted to condos. This is good news since a year or so ago, I believe there was talk of razing it. Today's online Business Journal reports that $15M will be spent to convert it from apartments to approximately 40 ...

Brush Creek Restaurant

The Star reported today that final approval has been given for a restaurant to be built next to the boat dock on Brush Creek. It will include an outdoor deck overlooking the creek. Given how people love to see and be seen, this could do great things for the popularity of the creekside walksays. The ...
