Just the kind of 'error' that you'd expect from the ruling regime of Brownbackistan.

Re: The Overland Park Money Exodus
I was in JoCo in December after being out of the metro area for a long time. I had to make a stop at JCCC's King's Cove office. My first impression was that the area felt very poor. Looking at the link on the OP, I see that it's not quite as poor as I was expecting (yellow and orange). I am just cu...

Re: Missouri Amtrak Service
There are double tracks from Jefferson City to St Louis. I am wondering why the speed can't be increased to 90 mph. Is the track just that unsuitable for higher speeds?

Re: 2012 Downtown Housing Report
Yup, in the presentation to the Downtown Neighborhood Association, the River Market West project was 5 stories. On the 2nd and Delaware, it looks like this will span Delaware with the street corridor entering the underground garage, with a courtyard built on top. Another unfortunate street vacation...

Re: Kansas suburbs battle each other for companies
Of course there are the cases where one area of KCMO competes with another area. Such as: Giving incentives for a new Walmart at the old Blue Ridge Mall site and having Walmart shut down its Bannister Walmart. Giving incentives to H&R Block to move from a midtown/Plaza location to downtown. Nob...

It would be nice if some of you guys could take a few photos of the progress on some of the developments happening around the city (Plaza Vista, Beacon Hill, etc.) for those of us who are out of town.

As far as I understand, they are planning a possible office building now. The Hyatt part of the plan has been dropped.

Re: 6 Homicides in the past 2 days
That's terrible. I believe there were 106 homicides in KC last year, essentially flat when compared to recent years (most cities are seeing declines), but this year appears to be off to a much worse start.

Re: KC tech|startups|entrepreneurial thread
Mr. Kotkin makes some interesting points, but I can't find myself agreeing with everything he says. For instance, he ties the unemployment rates of certain counties to the overall health of the IT sector in cities located within those counties. I would disagree with that assertion. The unemployment ...

Re: Kansas, Missouri pushing to eliminate state income tax?
One item in Kansas favor on this issue is energy. The domestic energy boom is expected to benefit KS quite a bit, at least according to some. On a different matter, on channel 41 news at 6:00 yesterday they reported that the number of business licenses in Kansas was at it's highest level last year....

Their website is a joke. Can they not add a few hundred gigs to their servers so that their articles don't disappear after a few weeks?
