Re: Three Light
i agree about HR Block. Always wished it was about 6 stories taller. Much nicer proportions. Now, we just need some really interesting buildings along south Truman.

Re: 12th and Broadway site: RFP for mixed use
I can't help but think the city knew exactly what was going to happen and still went along in hopes it would keep the US headquarters. People need to scream bloody murder. In three years headquarters moves to KS and CPKC holds onto property as an investment. Nothing happens. Carpenters redux. Somebo...

Re: NE Corner of 14th & Wyandotte (300 unit apartment)
That would be nice, Chris, (and I hope so) but it's not the way I read the CityScene article. First floor and rooftop uses are listed for both the apartments and hotel. The first floor hotel lobby would include a couple small food and beverage operations totaling about 3,300 square feet. There would...

Re: NE Corner of 14th & Wyandotte (300 unit apartment)
According to CityScene, the original proposal was 30 stories, 300 apartments, 200 hotel rooms and the new proposal calls for a 20-story apartment building and 10-story, still 200-room, hotel. For reference, as I'm sure many people on here know, the P&L building roof tops at 481 ft. (According to...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Three thoughts. If the Merrimans and Americo become focused on the NKC property, how does that bode for development of the old Plaza hotel site? Maybe they have the resources to do both. If the NKC site wins the ballpark, what might the surrounding development look like? It's a lot of land. Any hope...

Does anyone know what, if anything, US is receiving in payment for this disruption of normal income generating activity? Or, are they just viewing this as good publicity and going with that? Or, do they have no choice or say?

If you listen to the video - https://www.kmbc.com/article/kansas-citys-hy-vee-arena-back-on-the-market/43482840 - you'll learn this is not a distress sale. The Foutch's aren't closing up and walking away - they have it on the market for $36m and are open to selling if the right offer comes along. Th...

Once again, the BJ is calling this a "highrise". Would someone please send these people to school? And while they're there, please teach them some fundamental statistics and data presentation. And I mean, very fundamental.

Reasonable, informed discussion taking place here about how to produce affordable housing, I think. The Star should take notice and follow suit.

Re: 5th and Main (Northwest Corner)
Does anyone really know how affordable units in a luxury high-rise would be configured? Looking for knowledge here, not supposition. Would the units be smaller than market rate units? Would they have cheaper finishes? Would they be scattered throughout the building? Or sequestered in less desirable ...

Not obsessed. Just pissed that this group shows up just as KC is starting to get some wind in its sails after decades.in the doldrums. And so far it would be difficult to identify a single person that has materially benefitted from their obstructive antics. That"s the real rub.

Re: 5th and Main (Northwest Corner)
if kct really cared about affordable housing and had a strategy, they would be advocating for positive measures instead of always playing the spoiler. they are shortsighted and rudderless. to be completely cynical, i think the whole movement is a play for personal advancement by leadership. gone as ...

Re: Old KCPS HQ - 12th & McGee
I've always thought the School Board's failure in the matter of the building and their headquarters was not partnering with a developer, offering land in exchange for office space in a new development, as the Library did on the Plaza. Of course, has not been the Plaza when it comes to office develop...

Canadian Pacific says white collar employment in KC will drop by 112. Who is this expansion for? Something doesn't smell right in the turnover of this property from city ownership.

Yes, the lake would, and undoubtedly does, receive polluted runoff. Not saying it's nice, just saying the lake isn't solely dependent on a small spring for its water supply. So, a larger lake might not be impossible.
