Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction

Firstly, I don't care if taxpayers pay for it or Jesus comes down from heaven and bequeaths the money to mayor Barnes; if we have the money, I think we should spend it not on arenas or firefighter overtime or giving raises to politically important city employees or anything until, at the very least,...

Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction

No one pushing for the arena has made any claims that an arena alone will save downtown. Yes they have, although no one here has as far as I know; similarly, no one here (at least not me) has made any claims that anyone has claimed that an arena alone will save downtown. Now the mayor is saying tha...

Bass Pro - DOWNTOWN?

Arrowhead is in a good spot. I'd like to see the whole sports complex blown up and replaced by a new dome-style Arrowhead with heat and many more seats. I can't think of a better place for a shiny new BPS than next to a shiny new football stadium, and that area (Blue Ridge / US 40) is kind of starti...

Do you like this architecture style?

I have to admit, I think it's pretty cool. I like it better than the renderings I've seen of what they're doing at the Nelson.

Many in here, including me, agree with that assessment.
Me too. Generally speaking, when the market rules, the people win.

Is Cordish Co. good for downtown?

I've said it before, but the American romantic fantasy world where driving is equated to freedom, independence, and affluence needs to die.

I don't wanna pay for heavy rail myself, but if JoCo wants to build it and subsidize its operation for eternity I would love to see it hapen.

Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction

I'm seeing more pluses than minuses.
Not in the city's bank account, and that's the number one reason I say it should at the very least be put off until we have a bigger tax base.

Is Cordish Co. good for downtown?

The tourist attractions that are "purely Kansas City" have not drawn the numbers anticipated. Look at Union Station. There was a Science City in St. Louis for years before we ever built one. There's nothing uniquely KC about it. The jazz district is a different story, but it's also touris...

Bass Pro - DOWNTOWN?

I still feel those who live it day-to-day should at least approve what is happening to their neighborhood instead of dumping in something that they were not included on. ...and something they would probably have little if any interest in. Putting BPS in downtown is kind of like putting a Sak's 5th ...

New floor at KCI

I love KCI...it's cheap, fast, & easy.....they are improving the amenities which was my big complaint.....airports are supposed to be quick...in and out...I don't want to hang out in airports...get me in and out and I'm happy....walking 3 miles from one gate to another doesn't make it better ju...

I heard at the RevUpKC / city council QA last night that this was going ahead and was a sure thing from Bonnie Sue Cooper...not sure about the veracity of that, but she seemed pretty certain.

Bass Pro - DOWNTOWN?

How about we don't make any rash megaretail choices, and instead we let the population density increase and bring a solid tax base back to downtown. Big retail might or might not work, but getting people moved in should be the #1 priority for the next several years. Then it should be up to the peopl...

Is the Kansas board dead?

I see it as JoCo and KCMO competed, which JoCo was apparently better at.
If it was a competition, the cards were stacked in JoCo's favor, thanks in no small part to the feds.
