Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.
Drove by the BP gas station at Armour and Troost on NYE. Looked like it has gone dark and pumps removed. The businesses on the northeast corner were dark as well but could've been related to the holiday.

This is the same company that objected to losing their sight lines when the hotel was constructed, yes? correct. and the same ownership that put all of the cerner jobs on the fringe with some of the largest public subsidies in KC history. So now this ownership has completely bought into this downto...

Re: Misc Crossroads News
This is the same company that objected to losing their sight lines when the hotel was constructed, yes? Pardon me if I don't believe they have any incentive to develop the surface lot anytime soon. They've had this lot for years now and they haven't even bothered to pave and stripe it until now when...

Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies
MO side of KC region has been dominating job growth the past year or two. From September 2015 to September 2017, 78 percent of the metro’s employment growth was in Missouri. (This data is not seasonally adjusted so we need to use consistent months when calculating change to remove seasonal factors)...

Re: West 39th Street Apartments
A few things: 1. The developers of the 39th West apartments are having a meeting with the Valentine Neighborhood Association to present their revised plans. The meeting is on Oct. 30th at 7pm at the Writer's Place. The notice I saw did not say it was open to everyone but it was shared with surround...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ
Kerr is just pimping his site. He touts the access to the population center of KC, Lees Summit, JoCo and the Lees Summit and JoCo airports. He also said his site is already assembled and under control which would make it likely construction could start in 2019, which is in line with Amazon's timelin...

Teresa Loar concerned that the last gate is 50% further than the current configuration, but SOM says that distance will be made shorter with a 600-foot moving walkway.

Re: We need a new airport!!!
My biggest concern with all of this is that it looks like their concourses are very narrow, lack enough room for seating, and while they appear to be pleasant in overall look/feel, the size seems off. Check out the drawing with "Gate 5" it looks like it is just stuck next to a restaurant,...

http://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article177058541.html Site one and two both are horrible. Why would either of those spots work? I could see site three or four working, but neither site seems like a homerun. I'm with chingon, the site bound by Truman and 18th, Paseo and 71 is grea...

Re: American Royal leaders propose tearing down Kemper
Are you talking about the BBQ? I think the move to Labor Day weekend was a big mistake. It seemed the crowd Friday night was about half what it was last year. Either people were out of town, or there was too much else going on. The speedway location isn't horrible. There is plenty of room. But it l...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ
Bloomberg article suggests anonymous Amazon execs think Boston is the city to beat. HQ2 RFP may just be forcing Boston to offer up some big incentives. Is this really an open competition? https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-09-12/amazon-is-said-to-weigh-boston-in-search-for-second-headquart...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ
There is no way Boston, Toronto, DC, and in the other link NYC would make the cut, i just think the real estate is simply way to expensive to build something of this scale. Unless Amazon wants to build in Newark or Providence then it makes sense but Boston and NYC just seem unfeasible in my opinion...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ
Wasn't Amazon one of the "big bang" possibilities quoted in the MARC study on the decommissioning the north loop? yes So how long would it take to shut down the north loop and open it for development? I wouldn't think in time for Amazon to start construction next year given all of the pol...

Re: Misc Crossroads News
Looks like the sale of the three buildings east of Washington Square Park includes this huge lot in the Crossroads. If I had my way these buildings would go residential to add some life to the park, but the article makes a point that these "trophy" buildings have the attention of players i...

I spoke with someone from Cerner this week at lunch. I know the guy pretty well. He is a former MO politician, lobbyist and is now with Cerner. He lives in Belton, I won't mention his title but he is a C level player and reps Cerner nationally and internationally. I mentioned the idea of Cerner doi...
