Re: Arkansas 2019 Part 5

Thank you, Highlander. Mmm. A massage sounds good. I’ve never had one. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50171531846_917ab80b6c_c_d.jpg More wall art. I appreciate artists who take on such large projects. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50171531771_d83615a957_c_d.jpg I had to cut around the li...

Crossword Puzzle Just for KCRag

These really are photos, or I should say, scans. And they definitely pertain to Kansas City. I discovered an appreciation for crossword puzzles and decided to make one myself. I already made one for another site (TheFossilForum), so this one was easier. I apologize for not following the crossword-pu...

Re: Arkansas 2019 Part 5

The original image was very dark. I lightened it and applied levels to the pretty ladies to see them better. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50048203666_68692cc0cb_c_d.jpg I spent a lot of time trying to twist the ceiling glass into a more realistic shape, but the original looks much better. I g...

Re: Arkansas 2019 Part 5

The one bathhouse we visited indoors was more like a museum, where you could see how it existed years ago. I didn't know if any were actually used now, so I did a quick check on the Internet and found a good site. Apparently, there are several that are still used as true bathhouses. One bathhouse ha...

Street shot of Hot Springs, Arkansas. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50025798416_b34c3fcd7c_c_d.jpg I was amazed at the number of bathhouses in this town. They were originally built in the late 1890s. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50025254903_dd8299fdd7_c_d.jpg Each bathhouse had its own ...

Re: St. Louis

I'm in my 70s now, but I remember fondly of all those birthdays I spent as a young child on the Admiral. My parents worked, married and lived in St. Louis until they moved to Kansas City in 1939, where I was born several years later. We visited St. Louis a lot, and experiences were always pleasant. ...

Re: OFFICIAL - The Grand (former Traders on Grand)

What was downtown and the area around the building like then? I posted a topic, Baltimore Updraft, back in 2006. I see that it is still there, at https://kcrag.com/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=9503&p=169791&hilit=macy%27s+baltimore+skirt#p169791 . It may be of interest to you. The most wonderfu...

Re: OFFICIAL - The Grand (former Traders on Grand)

I worked at what was then a new building, Traders National Bank. It was my first real job. I sorted checks for $1.29/hour. Times have certainly changed since 1963.

Re: Arkansas 2019 Part 4

We didn't really visit Little Rock per se. The Clinton Library was certainly worth a visit. We stayed in Conway the night before. After the Library, we drove 50 miles to Hot Springs, which was very impressive. I was surprised at how many people were there, taking in the historic delights. The numero...

Re: Arkansas 2019 Part 4

We’re still visiting the Clinton Library. Here we have what probably passed as a Christmas tree. It was maybe 6 to 8 feet tall. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49899168048_d8f0cc6ecd_c_d.jpg I took this picture because of the students on the stairs, but you can see that crystal tree on the right...

Re: Arkansas 2019 Part 4

Many gifts were given to President Clinton during his administration. A number of them were on display in his library. A sign explained the practice very well: “STATE GIFTS—No state visit is complete without an exchange of gifts. These gestures of diplomacy and goodwill date back to the earliest day...

I like the masks, too, Fang. And they are made out of trash! Now to see what else we can find in the Clinton Library. Re: Arkansas 2019 Part 4

My Mac laptop lost its mind, presenting me with an abundance of crazy, random, blinking lines. I spent too much time trying to fix it myself because I’m stupid. Then I took it to the only Mac service provider within a hundred miles. Fortunately, it was rather close to where I live. I lost some email...

Re: Arkansas 20192019 Part 4

Thank you, Fang. It is my son who plans these trips. I just take pictures. I could figure from my notes on that day and a map to say that these pictures were taken in the Blanchard Springs area, which is in the upper middle part of the state. I did a little research (very little) and found this info...

Arkansas 2019 Part 4

Let’s continue the trip to Arkansas while we are holed up inside. We’ve already seen these falls from a distance. This is a close-up, with the sun’s effort to get in the way. I like his spots. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49740199246_346a491d14_c.jpg Here is another place with falls. Pretty p...
