Re: New Broadway Bridge

I also don't think 30-50 Million to keep the bridge from falling over is worth the cost to help the 50 people who walk across the river every day. But spending 25 times that amount, you know...Billions of dollars...to help Cerner build a "Members Only" suburban office complex surrounded by a sea of...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

Hopefully the city makes a very public push like they did for the RNC. I don't think anyone who's seen that video will never forget it. Key points that should definitely be mentioned loudly are the large swaths of usable land in and around our CBD DT, the DT airport and how it can basically become a...

Re: Should Jackson Co. relocate the Correctional Facility?

...safer to locate the prison in the countryside of Jackson County... Safer for who? I can't imagine why there's any support for the death penalty in this country. Execution has always seemed absolutely medieval to me. Does the thought of such an archaic death keep you from committing a crime that ...

Some of us actually like the look of this building. But, we welcome your opinion. Even if you might not like ours!

Re: New Broadway Bridge

Wait, isn't MO still not funding a new bridge? I thought they were moving forward with repairs to extend the life of the current bridge. I think that if possible, the city has a great opportunity to reuse the existing bridge instead of simply demolish it. Reuse has become the new hot ticket across ...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

The KC Star could easily end up running a story saying "Pro-streetcar advocates post private information of opponents, call for city to take back land." The pretentiousness of thinking everyone must and should agree with us is so dangerous. What private information? It's all public. http://www.sher...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

From what I've seen in the past, only 12 or 13% of KCMO residents fly once in a given year. So it's definitely a small percentage of KCI's flyers. KC area residents are however 90+ percent of the airport users in any given year. We've covered this many, many times. Connecting PAX are not routed thr...

Wait, who erased my post about DeJanes (Where I posted the GIS property photos and gave out her contact info for those interested in personal injury lawyers for those injured by DeJanes structures crisscrossing public lands)??

That we shouldn't even have to vote on it only because a small group of people are against it and other projects moving our city forward are against it. When the measure fails I'm going to quote this ignorant assumption of yours again. Just an FYI. You clearly aren't from Kansas City, and haven't s...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

I found permits listed for both of the encroaching driveways, the encroaching home addition, and at least two of the encroaching garages/outbuildings. So who approved them? Doesn't make them the least bit legal. Just makes it that much more of an "Egg on your face" moment for the city. This is ridi...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand

I'm not sure when the final renderings will be released. I don't see the wall argument as these buildings and the view looking north is very nicely stairstepped. Yes, if you're trying to take in the skyline from two blocks away, some buildings will be out of view but with any distance the skyline w...

Re: P&L District: 13th & Walnut Site Proposal

The thing everyone seems to be forgetting is that literally every non-kansas citian who's visiting town looking for a cool, Google defined BBQ joint in town to check out, is going to see "Joes KC" pop up on Google maps, along with this "Ice house" concept and a hundred other similarly unrelated-to-b...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

A few weeks ago I commented on a KC Star article about needing a new airport. I mentioned how unsafe it is being able to pull a vehicle up that close to the building/gates. It'd be more unsafe to have a central security area, that anyone could enter, full of hundreds of passengers waiting like duck...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Crazy to think these buildings wouldn't have been designed with backup utilities . It wouldn't matter given that the problem (A broken water main) is beyond the scope of the local buildings utility infrastructure. The misconception that having backup utilities for the building itself would avert an...

Again, it's 38 non stop destinations when you look at the metro area level No probably about it. You meant to say 41.. Which puts us on par or ahead of larger, more touristy cities like Austin TX, New Orleans, Sacramento (Only 27 destinations!), San Antonio (32), Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Milwaukee...
