Re: Three Light

Wait, why is H&R even involved? Did they have another option on this? Surely they don't need more room? What an I missing? This is the location of what was originally considered H&R Block Phase II..correct? H&R intended to build another high rise for their own use in this spot, which still seems to...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

What would be the best European city for a nonstop? Frankfurt is the clear choice. It's really the only large, international connection hub in Europe. Why sell ourselves short? Anyone who's been to Paris or London knows the disaster that those two airports are. Especially Paris CDG. Amsterdam, whil...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

.. if KC can build up as a hub. I sure hope that every time anyone in this thread mentions "Hub" they're NOT talking about a specific airlines hub, and are actually meaning to say "More flights" in general. An actual single airline "Hub" would be one of the worst things to ever happen to KC and KCI!

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

As far as what could happen with a baseball stadium in DT Kansas City: it would immediately push us past the renovation stage to the new build stage for residential buildings with parking lots filled with new towers, it would make DT the #1 location in this city for corporate locations (companies s...

Re: Would you like to see the Royals move to a downtown stadium?

I would disagree that downtown stadiums are necessarily islands surrounded by parking although One of the best examples is Coors Field in Denver. Going to a Rockies game is a really great experience. Yes, Rockies games are a great experience. However, what exactly is the stadium doing to help downt...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Missouri could undercut any Kansas airport in one day. The state would have to issue the bonds and even then... One of the main points the recent proposals made was that kci has runway infrastructure that other cities would beg for. A Kansas airport is a pipedream. A second airport is not that much...

Check out Edgemoor’s design for the KCI single terminal http://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/article177223371.html Looks good They're called conceptual images for a reason. I'll put $100 on it right now that if this passes, the final product will look NOTHING like these images. Realit...

Re: New Broadway Bridge

I also don't think 30-50 Million to keep the bridge from falling over is worth the cost to help the 50 people who walk across the river every day. But spending 25 times that amount, you know...Billions of dollars...to help Cerner build a "Members Only" suburban office complex surrounded by a sea of...

Re: Amazon searching for second HQ

Hopefully the city makes a very public push like they did for the RNC. I don't think anyone who's seen that video will never forget it. Key points that should definitely be mentioned loudly are the large swaths of usable land in and around our CBD DT, the DT airport and how it can basically become a...

...safer to locate the prison in the countryside of Jackson County... Safer for who? I can't imagine why there's any support for the death penalty in this country. Execution has always seemed absolutely medieval to me. Does the thought of such an archaic death keep you from committing a crime that ...

Some of us actually like the look of this building. But, we welcome your opinion. Even if you might not like ours!

Re: New Broadway Bridge

Wait, isn't MO still not funding a new bridge? I thought they were moving forward with repairs to extend the life of the current bridge. I think that if possible, the city has a great opportunity to reuse the existing bridge instead of simply demolish it. Reuse has become the new hot ticket across ...

The KC Star could easily end up running a story saying "Pro-streetcar advocates post private information of opponents, call for city to take back land." The pretentiousness of thinking everyone must and should agree with us is so dangerous. What private information? It's all public. http://www.sher...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

From what I've seen in the past, only 12 or 13% of KCMO residents fly once in a given year. So it's definitely a small percentage of KCI's flyers. KC area residents are however 90+ percent of the airport users in any given year. We've covered this many, many times. Connecting PAX are not routed thr...

That we shouldn't even have to vote on it only because a small group of people are against it and other projects moving our city forward are against it. Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

I found permits listed for both of the encroaching driveways, the encroaching home addition, and at least two of the encroaching garages/outbuildings. So who approved them? Doesn't make them the least bit legal. Just makes it that much more of an "Egg on your face" moment for the city. This is ridi...
