Re: Do Natural Disasters benefit the midwest?
That mentality would have kept everyone in bomb shelters from 1945-1991. Bomb's going to drop, why naively try to live normal lives?

Re: Do Natural Disasters benefit the midwest?
There seems to be far less downside in accepting the likleihood that manmade global warming is happening and taking appropriate action.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
For kicks, has anyone asked Yael or TMC to outline a plan (route, type of vehicle, funding mechanism) that they would endorse and would also win a city-wide election? I really want to know what this unicorn looks like. they supported the last city light rail plan fully. the problem was it wasn't bi...

Then why bother arguing with Yael on Twitter?DaveKCMO wrote:there will be no rebuttal in the star because it is not relevant to the people who are actually voting. besides, when you work for the newspaper you always get the last word. no reason trying to chase them into submission.

Anyone else think it's about time to lay off the Star and Yael on Twitter? Lest we generate actual opposition... We must remind ourselves that this is a ground game--the Star is no good at that. No. the media has a fundamental responsibility to tell the truth about a situation. they're telling half...

The Royals may be in a situation where no FA wants to be the first guy to sign there. Doing a trade for a well known player may have been the only way to break the ice.

They either don't understand the game anti-rail folks have played, or they are playing it themselves. the writer in charge of transportation-related editorials is thomas mcclanahan, perhaps the star's most conservative (and anti-tax) voice. we will never get a fair shake from the editorial board, s...

I think the guy who did it is a KU fan and was mocking MU and KSU's tendency to make commemorative t-shirts.kcmetro wrote:That's a pretty bad attempt at photoshopping a non-existant shirt.chaglang wrote:

It does. I'm not sure why they would release a rendering like that. because a rendering doesn't earn someone money. True. And I think people are already excited about BRAD PITT!!! the redevelopment of the Manheim neighborhood, so they probably thought it wouldn't matter if the rendering was SketchU...

I'm not often one to go in for AKP's radical doubt, but I'm likewise not convinced that race per se was "the major, primary motivation" for white flight from Kansas City, at least not to the exclusion of other major motivations. I'm too young to really know how things went down, but there...
