Re: American Royal BBQ
It never really seemed like a KC Tradition to me. I felt like its always been a "Who u know" event that didn't give a shit about the public or community but if know people in the Royal then its probably amazing. Exactly. Now you can just get a ticket and walk in to the general area. (Coul...

This looks cool, but what exactly is futuristic about it? Luxury projects like this have been built all over the world for years.

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments
I used to travel to Little Rock for work when there was still a direct flight. It was a Beechcraft 1900 (twin prop) that you had to board via stairs on the apron. It had no bathroom, about 20 seats, and was extremely loud (US Airways). Monday mornings were normally pretty full, but Thursday evenings...

Re: Layoffs at The Star
They have two options. Race to the bottom by cutting costs when the margins won't do, or provide a better product. They have done zero to provide a better product in the last 10+ years, so they are left with dropping elements until they are left with very little to provide. There is no saving this p...

Re: Westside happenings
Don't know if this was mentioned before, but from what I heard (and now on their website), the old Novel/Lil's restaurant/house on 17th will be home to Fox and Pearl (from the Hank Charcuterie folks). Since the originally chosen location on Summit and Cesar Chavez will not be ready for some while, t...

Re: beer.
There was a wine store in the River Market that had beer in the basement and you could do mix/match six packs. I think you can do that at World Market. I'm guessing liquor stores don't want to micromanage their inventory like that if they can avoid it. I'm sure it would be popular, but not sure it ...

Great Article but why wouldn't dst just take the company private when he was receiving pushback from investing in KC, he'll why don't more companies threaten to take companies private when they are receiving all this pressure. Theartening to take companies private is a good way to get these fucks o...

Re: We need a new airport!!!
They just redid most of the terminals at LAX, and the number one issue with them at Southwest and Delta (for me) is the seating around each gate is still lacking. Even when there are wide-open spaces that could include additional seats, they only put exactly the number of seats as the plane capacity...

Haha. Good point. I guess when Penn Valley Park is affiliated with a place that is responsible for billions of dollars in business over the years in KC, it will be well-looked after.

20 lines is a nice deal! Any backups will not be for lack of capability, so I hope they keep them staffed to keep the average wait down. I arrived around 20 minutes before boarding for my Southwest flight a few weeks ago with an A boarding pass and just jumped into line in the middle of the B boardi...

Re: Church of the Resurrection Downtown Campus
I'll take back some of my criticism and say I'm happy to have more diversity in types of businesses and lifestyle opportunities downtown. I'm glad the glass-enclosed cross is not there, but my earlier description of 1990s Ultra-Suburbo Police HQ isn't far off. It could be way worse, but our downtown...

Re: Why Can't the West Bottoms Be Redeveloped....?
I forgot to add that I had a very terrific steak at the new Golden Ox on their official opening night. That said, I've not been to many other places in contention for best steak in KC (other than my own home). Steak is generally not something I set out to order, but I would definitely go back to the...
