Re: P&L Building

Also, the artifacts to the left of the tower are replicated to the left of the second tower. Clearly this is just a fabrication, not an actual drawing. that could be a printing block being used twice but that seems unlikely with other factors look about ground level on each side. there's mimicked d...

Re: P&L Building

I would believe the original concept had two towers but it got dropped and was never intended to be built.

Re: P&L Building

nice. I found a problem with that image look at the building today. the west wall is straight up, it doesn't step back any. you can look at the west side in google street view to see what I mean. have that up now look at the drawing. In it the west wall is singular up to the first setback. so the id...

Re: P&L Building

a twin wouldn't have to fill the space. I'm not bothered by that. what makes little sense if done like that image it would block multiple windows. why would they spend the money to put windows in where they plan to put a building blocking them? architects aren't stupid because the people spending th...

Re: P&L Building

Heard it's a myth, a guy interviewed an employee at the architect who said there were no plans. So unless a first party source is wrong it's a muth. It's linked further back in this thread. Unless this came out of something from the 1930s, and there's no source linked, that could be a modern manipul...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

They're basically gone. Then were sold off or destroyed decades ago. And the systems that bought them pretty much retired them since then. The ones that may remain sit outside unmaintained for decades at various museums.

The one outside Union Station can't be used. It's not bidirectional.

Re: Do you have or plan to get Google Fiber?

Google Fiber is moving out from the Google brand and into the Alphabet brand as a separate company. Wonder what that means? Apparently I'm supposed to be hooked up this month. That's 18 months after I signed up. Ouch. Just today they updated their map. They added a new Olathe East area and pushed ba...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

Don't celebrate too hard but Allegiant is flying out of KCI to Florida now.... Yawn This airline could be a big deal for KC if done right. This is the airline we could become a hub with. Look at the size of the cities they're in. We're their biggest airport between Indianapolis and Las Vegas and th...

Re: We need a new airport!!!

The fairfax area? It would take the entire fairfax district to have enough space. The expense there would make a new terminal on existing land look like buying a rundown warehouse downtown. How many tens of billions do you think it would take to buy out GM? What about the cost to buy out an oil comp...

Re: Corbin Park

Maybe they want to close the Legends location?

As you said, it's a place you have to spend a lot of money to enjoy and being located closer to southern OP makes more sense than Wyandotte County.

Re: OFFICIAL: The Streets at Metcalf (Metcalf South redevelopment)

A big box doesn't have to be so insanely big. They could go two story and put windows in. Call it a green big box design using less energy for lighting.

The best suburban design to copy is The Legends or Zona Rosa. Both do suburban retail way better than this proposal.

I wonder what the odds are that KC will begin operations before DC Streetcar does?

Re: OFFICIAL: The Streets at Metcalf (Metcalf South redevelopment)

Sears is stubborn. I don't know why you'd think they're short term. They're selling stores (land) to a real estate trust. So the retail can go away and a new company with no shareholders in common will own the valuable land. http://www.wsj.com/articles/sears-to-partner-with-general-growth-propertie...

Counting on Sears for any need is a horrible idea. They're a short term tenant at best right now

Re: How would you design improved bus service in your neighborhood?

I just found the greatest example of excessive bus stops on N. Oak There's one the south side of 55th and then the next one is at 5545 N. Oak That's less than a block between them. I would pull both those stops and I would put in a small bus center at N. Oak and NE Englewood to better connect 136 an...

Re: OFFICIAL: The Streets at Metcalf (Metcalf South redevelopment)

If the plan requires a big box retailer, why did all the previous ones leave the location? Do we think small retail shops really want to be next to a large national competitor? Wouldn't most places like not competing with Target or Lowe's? Is it a bad location and retail is the wrong choice? Is it t...
