Re: Restoration of City Control Over KCPD

So, the affect this has on crime, good or bad, shouldn’t be a determinant? Correct. If we had zero crime I would still want local control. No other major city in the US has to deal with this. Right. The origin of state control of the police force was corruption that happened mid last century. It ha...

Re: Restoration of City Control Over KCPD

The argument for local control should have little to do with crime rate. Police should be accountable to the people that they police, not one man living halfway across the state. So, the affect this has on crime, good or bad, shouldn’t be a determinant? Correct. If we had zero crime I would still w...

Friday and Saturday it gets pretty packed, but I find that to be better than a parking lot. in 5 years when Earls is gone we will be stuck with a weed infested lot.

Re: Trees in KC (ongoing)

Sapling trees are much better than 2", and up, trees. They don't need regular watering except in extreme conditions and they grow a better root system and are easier to plant. And you can pick them up for a few bucks. However, their worst enemy is lawn mowers, so you have to mark them and prote...

Agreed!

Found this chart very interesting

A communion of his sentence. I wanted to make a joke about Parsons consuming the transmuted blood and body of Christ in a strange ritual in order to accomplish this, but who knows, he may have actually done something like that. Anyway, I think it's a commutation . Doh! Correct. Sometimes spell chec...

At least they have money to pay for some things.
Not a pardon. A communion of his sentence. He will be on house arrest until Oct 2025.

Still BS though.

I'd be fine with that for Arrowhead. As long as it's in the metro.

Just had a couple of people stop by with Vote Yes Flyers. Asked me how I was going to vote. Said undecided. Asked why. Said closing Oak and underwhelming announcement from the Chiefs. Canvasser said "Oh really because I understand they are building a retractable roof to get the Super Bowl"...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

Who pays the cost of demolition of the K and what is that estimate? BTW does anyone REALLY care that the concrete from the K will be repurposed? Just seems like lip service to be responsible stewards of the environment but maybe (probably) I'm out of touch. Does repurposed mean, used to fill in the...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

I was ready to vote yes despite my misgivings about Oak being closed, but this has flipped me to no. Public money to upgrade the most expensive and exclusive parts of the stadium, while the rest of us get covered walkways? No thanks. The chiefs will cover those portions while the tax payer will cov...

Are there any published plans for the WC renovations. I know they have to widen the field. Will the removed seats be replaced with temporary seats or will they permanently restore the field to it's original width?

In fact, the Royals might want to decouple from the Chiefs on this one. I think the Chiefs are dragging down the vote with this presentation more than the Royals. It's like they want it to fail.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Usage of Oak, Grand, or any other street downtown TODAY isn't the issue, we are trying to plan for our city's future and undo the mistakes of the past. If we plan on our downtown being vibrant and urban in 20 years we need to make sure we aren't permanently closing major streets through downtown. Ir...

I just don't understand how the word thug is now a racist term, the definition of a thug is a violent, aggressive person, especially one who is a criminal. It's not. I don't understand why the mayor decided to interject himself in this way. We have serious issues with crime and feels like there isn...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I don't want to pay for a billionaire's new stadium, I also don't want to pay for low-income housing, mental healthcare, and schools. Or frankly police and firefighters. But I'm also smart enough to realize that all those things, in their way, are a benefit to our city.
