Re: New User Registration

The webhost we're using has written me to say that they're disabling our email because of the tens of thousands of activation emails that are being sent as a result of spambot registrations. Spambots eat up "anti-spam" measures for breakfast. Captcha, math, and "prove your humanity&qu...

Re: KC's Top Ten Dive Bars

I would think these bars would rank among the best dives in the city. Has anyone been inside any of them? Green Duck Tavern, 26th and Prospect. No, but I will soon. Golden Bar, E. 9th and Spruce. Yep, and they were pulling beers out of a cooler on the floor. A vietnamese family appeared to be livin...

Re: KC's Top Ten Dive Bars

Tom's Bigger Jigger has been Teri's Bigger Jigger for a couple of years, and I wholeheartedly endorse it as one of KC's best dives. Even higher though I would place Karen's Kozy Cabin, just down the street. I was once threatened by a meth-head there. Chrizow saw. I drank a can of bud that literally ...

Re: beer.

It was introduced in bottles only a couple of years ago. Prior to that it was draught-only. I rather liked that kind of commitment to traditionalism. Maybe they're reverting.

Re: Welcome to the new forum!

I tried to upload an 80x57, 64k avatar, but got this message: "The avatar’s filesize must be between 0 and 6 KiB." I guess I'll have to stick with the 0k avatar that's there now. :D Fixed. The size limit now is 256k, at 100x100. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. Keep them coming, f...

I'll see if I can pull the smileys over. I'm still getting used to the new options and administrative stuff, myself.

Welcome to the new forum!

We are never going back to SMF, FYI. The hate I feel for SMF blinds me.

We are still working to get things back to normal, but this is the forum's new look, more or less.

Bitch and moan here!

Re: beer.

Have pitchers of beer gone out of style? Bars don't like to sell beer in pitchers because they usually take a hit on the quantity. More than ever, too, bars are roping you into paying more for a smaller glass(snifter, chalice, etc). If they can charge more for less, it's a win for them. So a bar th...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

KC's track record with LRT planning isn't great either. The level of compromise always obviates the proposal. It's too expensive to build a new ROW, so we'll make it a streetcar. Myriad entitlements turn the route into a zigzag of 90-degree turns and being subject to traffic and stoplights, just lik...

Re: Boulevard Beer Now Available in...

I just came back from Seattle. I saw some Boulevard in a grocery store in the area and also thought that Boulevard was better than the beers I tried out there. Nothing against Boulevard, but they make some really outstanding beer in Seattle. Did you drink anything from Boundary Bay? Elysian? Hale's...

Re: Closed Bars and Restaurants

I always take unconscious exception to the words, "John's Upper Deck" as well, as my name is John. So it sounds like a hands-in-the-air complaint about how we can never have John over, because he defecates where he shouldn't.
