Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments

Austin is a focus city for AA though. They have a pretty decent sized route map from there now. Although I’m curious how long it lasts. Me as well. AA is trying to make it work at AUS with significant operations but WN has been the largest player there for a long time (39% share) It’s seems at this...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments

United, American & to an extent Southwest all have hubs or something like that. United and American don't go to MSP, DTW, ATL, SLC, etc. for the same reason that Delta doesn't go to their hubs. Why should they? AA does fly some non hub routes to/from Austin Austin is a focus city for AA though....

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments

Why doesn't delta have a direct to Chicago? I know it's not a hub but it's one of the few places I have to go that I never go Delta. how many have direct flights to non hubs from KCI? does United have flights from KCI to AA or Delta hubs? For the most part the large domestic carriers (UA, AA and DL...

Why doesn't delta have a direct to Chicago? I know it's not a hub but it's one of the few places I have to go that I never go Delta. As others have mentioned, between WN, AA and UA you have a lot of capacity on the route. DL would solely be relying on O/D traffic as they wouldn’t be connecting anyo...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments

Somewhat random question: Anybody have quick access to number of pax per day between KC and STL? Thanks! O&D passengers a day one way. 2nd qtr and 3rd qtr 2022 was 52 2019 was 92 2018 was 103 Data is here. You have to divide it in half. https://data.transportation.gov/Aviation/Consumer-Airfare-...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal

I'm surprised the garage is full. Maybe a lot of people wanting the full experience that will go back to economy eventually? Or more people flying in general? I saw some advice on social media to use the garage to pick people up rather than the cell phone lot too. https://twitter.com/Fly_KansasCity...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments

Daily? Yes, 2X, daily (not sure about weekends but definitely during week) Seems one that might rely on connections to help pax numbers? I believe pre-pandemic, DL was running 2/X daily. I do think this opens up the door for more to connect in LA to other destinations (Hawaii, etc) but there is ple...

Delta added a second frequency between MCI and LAX, beginning in September.

Also appears that AA added a second frequency between MCI and MIA, starting in late August.

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments

I am not sure I follow your question though? Say the adding of a nonstop to Iceland increased demand 5x to that location. You could assume the same increase rate to other destinations in Europe. So, would the demand to a destination like Barcelona or Rome be sufficient for a nonstop flight if you s...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments

The hub helps purely for the connection components as you know. While N/S to those other cities would be great, there isn’t enough O/D to justify the flight (even with subsidies) and poor connection options ensures that no airline would ever touch a route like that. What was the percentage increase...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments

I just don't agree with the thought that it has to be a hub or nothing at all, AMS/CDG/LHR or bust. Prove demand with another major city. We pack planes to Rome or Barcelona or Madrid, the hubs will likely notice and respond. We need a proof of concept. I know so many people who would go to any cit...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal

I was at an event yesterday that had a lot of out-of-town business travelers. They were all super impressed with the new terminal. Several said they woke up that morning dreading (hyperbole) flying to KC and were pleasantly surprised when they didn't deplane into a maze of a bunker with no real dir...

I would take KC Tenants over Tarwater any day of the week.

Only notable one is AA cut Austin from mid August to early October
Not surprised. That route had to be bleeding money. All airlines are betting heavy on AUS but now the market is starting to correct.
