Re: Caliente!
They may be giving up. The building is listed for sale - $2.5M where did you see this listed? maybe he's just fishing around for that high price until the situation gets ironed out. i live across the street, the infamous building whose association put up a big fight against kerry. i supported him...

went to screenland on friday night for their first friday film series. this month was "pee wee's big adventure". more comfortable seats than the tivoli and you can buy a beer! no commercials! is the legends worth the drive? since i live in the crossroads, it's pretty much screenland, plaza...

Re: 3rd and Wyandotte
i think the current state of the exhibition business would prevent AMC from laying out the capital for a fancy, new headquarters building (even though they just merged with loews). just a guess, but with the statements being made by some of the studio execs (simultaneous release dates for theater/ca...

Morrissey will finally come out of the closet. "A boy in the bush Is worth two in the hand" separately and randomly: - MARC will get their wish with a vote on the TIP thingy; it will pass - The JO will propose bus rapid transit in the 'burbs; KS senators will dig up the pork in an appropr...

Re: Development on the very North end of the loop
wasn't a big chunk of this space one of the proposed sites for a downtown baseball stadium? maybe the tower thing fell through when the sasaki plan noted this as a potential location? just making a stab. but yes, an eyesore. it's as if all of the 70 and 670 overpasses were just abandoned like cheap ...

Re: You heard it here first.....Raphael Hotel bought out
anyone have an update on this? a friend of mine stayed in the raphael over the summer, and it definitely needs an update. in fact, his room had a CONSOLE television. i would like to see it stay a hotel, but a condo conversion would probably be a great success in that location. never eaten at the res...

Re: Cold Storage - 223 more apts for River Market
went by the cold storage building the other night. as others have said, it really is hard to imagine them cutting windows on those huge southern and eastern facades. there are construction signs up, but no other info. sidenote: this place was on the homes tour this year with only a numbered sign... ...

Re: 22nd Street Renovations
i guess i should have mentioned that i live between main and broadway, and would prefer a route that's more direct AND dumps me right into the station itself (north waiting room, i believe?). even if it's merely psychological... i'd personally rather improve the perception of accessibilty to union s...

Re: 22nd Street Renovations
here's another way to think about it: moving all of our rail history near the rail hub, that being union station. i think it will help improve accessibility to union station (even though the main street path already exists). how many streets cross 70 and 670? think about that, too. should we propose...

ate at the new restaurant next to chipotle tonight -- the Mixx (yes, two x's!). cool chipotle-like concept: build your own sandwich, salad, or pasta. open for breakfast M-F. very nice space, food is inexpensive and tasty, liquor license in the works.

drove underneath the rail bridge that will become the freighthouse pedestrian bridge tonight. if you haven't been down to see it, go to the broadway bridge and instead of crossing, veer to the right and go down underneath (drive SLOW, lock your doors). it's sitting right there under the bway bridge....

Re: What restaurants do you want in the P&L District?
don't forget that some of us already live in close proximity. i would definitely walk the five blocks to check out lucky strike, houlihan's, and the supermarket. i was just in new york and shopped on 5th ave. (arguably one of new york's most famous streets) and it's nothing but high-end national/int...

Re: OFFICIAL - Hotel President construction
walked by the President tonight. lobby looks fabulous, and the street-level drum room sign on the corner of 14th and baltimore is lit. street and sidewalk work is almost complete, save for all four street corners and grouting of the concrete street surface. nice brickwork adorns the entire sidewalk ...

Re: Suburban vs Urban
you might want to check out "Comeback Cities"... it's a book about urban redevelopment. i think there was a section about the public spaces in the urban core being a necessity for democracy and public discourse (think the National Mall, or even Mill Creek Park). in short, kinda hard to pro...
