Re: Troost developments

I imagine Troost is one of those streets where you just need that tipping point of one place that is noticeably more upscale than what's there today. Imagine if something like a Panera decided to build on Troost near Hospital Hill what that would mean psychologically to people. I've been ruminating...

http://kcpsychfest.com/?tribe_events=benon-mystic-sunrise-sunset-magic-record-release-party-at-kc-scottish-rite ...this event is interesting from an urban perspective- its taking place in the 1928 Scottish Rite Temple on Linwood. $10 door. Event description says there will also be catered food. Musi...

The Bike place has been in a perpetual state of crowdfunding for nearly 8 years. I think they are still only open about six hours a week, also.

Re: Historic Old Northeast

Northeast has gone in the opposite direction of the burgeoning districts to the west. The ownership in the Westside & Crossroads are significantly different than other parts of town- arts-based or at the very least, people who've left KC once or twice in their lives. Even Midtown, the area aroun...

Re: Historic Old Northeast

I stopped here and spoke with a security guard- the corner building is going to be saved. No idea what will go on the plot that burned. Ind Ave has very little original building stock as of this event. It is a drag... but not a main drag. Buh duh bump. LOL. No really it sucks there.

Re: Second and Delaware

It is a great project, no doubt, but I caution all KC acolytes to look past the shiny PR elements and really think about what makes KC the place that it is, and the place that it could be. Delaware Street north of 2nd is public, currently, and is one of only four possible connections to a future ri...

Re: 18th and Vine

This story is ridiculous. This guy doesn't have 2 nickels to rub together. Instead of listing it for sale, the city scammed and "gave" him (his "foundation") the workhouse for $1. 3 paragraphs of no details, no accomplishments and no $$. "Black Silicone Valley" ....he ...

Re: 18th and Vine

Going forward, the Eastside will have a much greater influence from the eastern suburbs than the city to the west. If you spend any time around Truman and Independence, the residential neighborhoods are already recent developments. Especially the blocks around 24th Street. Another brick building is ...

This is pipe dreaming of the highest order.

Re: Why Can't the West Bottoms Be Redeveloped....?

Are we looking at the same page? I don't see anything that looks "great" posted. Or anything particularly gay except perhaps the word "boy" written in cursive. While Lucky Boy may have some connotations, one of the previous posts mentioned trustafarian, so maybe that's the spin....

Re: Why Can't the West Bottoms Be Redeveloped....?

Lucky Boys will be the name of the bar in the former Grandma's Bar space. 'Divey,' yes, but a cultivated dive. Some Westport lifers and art dudes are in charge. Think 70's motorcycle cults, pool hall babes, contemporary trustafarian dirtbaggery. A stabbing or two would enhance the vibe. great post?...

No, the only gay sport I enjoy is Drag Race, and we watch that from the comfort of our living room.
...on second thought, the other gay sport I love is punk rock, so of course this development does nothing for me whatsoever.

No, I haven't gone to show in a long while.

Heard some grumbling online about no KC venue picking up the Shellac tour.
