Re: Pin-Up Bowl from St Louis.......announced as Legends Tenant

GRID, I'm drawing parallels between KCK's development method and KCMOs. In both cases, the cities opted for intensive top-down investment, which seems to becoming increasingly popular to prop up stagnating places. In thirty years time, after the results have been documented, studied, and analyzed, ...

Free land (even after cleared of over a hundred homes and prepped for development)...STAR bonds...TIFFs...property tax abatements...overlay tax...millions in road improvements from Kdot(not paid for via tifs)...KCK owned bldgs leased to developer...two interstate hwys with vacant land all around the...

The north loop backs up trying to get to the Paseo (NB 29) and the Broadway exit, but only during rush hours. It’s not bad, non of the loop really backs up, its more of a distribution problem than anything.

Re: North Loop Widening

I totaly agree about the width/wasted space of the north loop. I just hadn't seen any plans to widen the north loop. How would the exits work? Those ramps arn't much to speak of now and most are gone in the south loop. Well, I don’t have the plans now, but they would remove much of the access and...

Re: North Loop Widening

I have only seen the MIS plans, but I'm sure you will see something similar to that in the final design. MoDot does plan to rebuild the north loop, not sure if they will fund it with the Paseo project though. This shot shows how much space is wasted on the "urban" freeway corridor. http://...

Re: North Loop Widening

They are not going to shift I-70 but they are going to widen the hell out of the east and north loops.  Actually, there is plenty of room on the north loop to widen it.  Unlike the south loop, it has lots of grass and spread out ramps.  They will probably do something similar to the northloop as the...

Re: Campfire USA moving to downtown

Plaza is not so bad.  There is more there than you think and it's very corporate during the day.  I worked there for some time before going downtown.  You will just miss all the activity downtown in the next few years.

Grand looks bizarre in that second shot, it looks like it's on a dam or something, pretty cool stuff.

Lee's Summit, Leawood to get 3-D theaters...

This may not be a big deal to a lot of you, but I enjoy the "new" 3-D technology and when you have kids it gives you one more thing to do as a family.  Polar Express is a great family outing, but it's much better in IMAX/3-D vs a typical 2-D screen. For more info, follow this link: http://...

Well, they are "relocating" from US 40.  Pretty obvious, but it was in the examiner today.

I'm sure toys r us and babies r us will not be far behind.

It's a good thing HyVee is in there now to keep the area busy.

I agree with both your posts Gladstoner!

Has anybody been to the KC Museum Planetarium latley?  It's been 15 years for me.  What am I thinking, has anybody been to the KC Museum at all latley?

I apologize for goin' off the subject of downtown baseball, but I'm responding to Fritz's comments in The Star . I agree with you, 4DT...but I'm not asking for suburban-style houses in downtown.  I'm asking for row houses that could be as affordable as suburban homes, especially in a city that sti...

I’m not going to be able to leave downtown after all the new (and old) buildings are finished and lit up.  You know that dude that stands at the corner of Truman and McGee off ramp?  Well after you give him a buck, give the guy next to him (the one with the tripod) a buck too. ;)

Re: JoCo and Lawrence - neck and neck in transit

Yep, the JO actaully makes KCMO's ridership look pretty good.  The ATA has about 55,000 riders a day, but about 50,000 of them ride the system in the dense core of the city (downtown-waldo-stateline-blue ridge) which has a population of about 250-300 thousand. Most towns the size of KC have 200-300...
