So, can one be arrested for drunk driving on a bicycle?

Any engineers out there?  Burns and Mcdonnell is a great KC success story.

Looks like they will be staying in south KC though; not much interest in moving out of their current environs.

Re: O-Zone...Massive entertainment complex proposed for Olathe

funny, all the kayansas & johnson county pukes (skimmed and bvc) are 100% joyous about this attraction sprawled out in Johnsonville/Topeeker. Legoland - if done correctly - along with a world class aquarium is exactly what's needed next to Union Station to create a critical mass and ensure that...

Re: OFFICIAL: West Edge development

I've lost faith in renderings.  The Nelson addition, while I am not complaining about it, looks nothing like its rendering nor does the Plaza Colonnade building.  Having said that, I think the concept for West Edge is extremely interesting....kind of European which fits the Plaza area quite well.  T...

Re: Eyesores & Architectural Blunders (ongoing thread)

I assumed those were duplexes because of the design but the close-up reveals 4 separate addresses above the garages.  A these 4-plexes?

In any event, they look more like the posterior end than the snout .  I really hate them.

Re: 'Burbs do extra duty.....

Reality check old man.  A large SUV moving at the same velocity as a small car contains a lot more energy. Yes F=ma applies to how much force it takes to acclerate a set amount of mass. However, in collions force of impact is determined by conservation of momentum and a term called "impulse&qu...

Re: denver....and kansas city

Actually, comparing KCMO to Denver, KCMO is the "whiter" city.  Denver has a much larger Hispanic population but smaller African American population. Races in Kansas City: • White Non-Hispanic (57.6%) • Black (31.2%) • Hispanic (6.9%) • Other race (3.2%) • Two or more races (2.4...

Re: Corbin Park (135th and Metcalf)

EXACTLY. i am not exactly an outdoorsman or hiker, but i can't believe there aren't more camping/hiking type stores in kansas city, like REI or (in STL and CoMO) Alpine Shop.  i have to order my poseur-hiker wear from Moosejaw instead. I'd love for KC to have an REI, it has topped my wish list for ...

Re: 'Burbs do extra duty.....

that safety issue is pretty interesting.  if you're involved in an accident, especially a head-on, it's generally better to be driving a giant SUV when that happens.  studies have shown, however, that it's actually safer, statistically, to be driving a VW Golf or something because you are much more...

6.  i am not comforted by the idea that "SUV's are no worse than other vehicles that get 11 mpg."  america's (and recently, the world's) demand for giant, wasteful vehicles is absolutely disgusting.  our family of 4 had a van for a while, but mostly we had two small cars.  now that we kid...

Re: Harvey House Diner at Union Station

I rather like the old throw back Harvey House uniforms but, then again, I have a soft spot for nostalgia.  One could make the same argument about how demeaning it is that the black waiters wear similar servant-like clothing at the Savoy Grill but I see it as more traditional attire than any kind of ...

I just went back to my original avatar which is the castle in the west of scotland where the beginning of the movie Highlander was filmed.  I really am not a fan of the movie but since I live in the UK, and specifically in the scottish highlands, I thought it would be appropriate.

Re: Lewis W. Diuguid vs. Boulevard Brewing Co's racist billboard.

You'd be right.  It's pretty damn obvious to anyone with even an ounce of common sense that, if anyone at Boulevard had even heard of this being used in a racial context they would have chosen not to use it because, not only would it be morally wrong but also because of the risk of getting sued.  W...

Marbella especially, is a veritable playground and second home for the rich and famous, though the south of France perhaps to a greater extent. Yes, Marbella is in the same league as Antibes and Cannes but is probably less known in the US....Cannes has the famous movie festival afterall.  Monoco is...

Cities in Southern France

I recently went to southern France and visited several cities: Nice, Antibes, Nimes, Cannes, Avignon and Monaco (which is actually a separate country).  I left Marseille off the itenerary for a variety of reasons but mostly because of it was difficult to fit into the circuit we followed.  Anyway, th...
