IRS/Union Station
I'd think the city would be thinking real hard about some of that proposed housing in Penn Valley Park. If the IRS moves 3,000-4000 permanent jobs to this area where will people live? Could be some big potential at the park or up the hill at the former Trinity Lutheran site? Let's have some vision a...

Empire
Tearing down the theater would be a huge mistake. This is a piece of KC history. Hopefully, people can look beyond the way the theater looks currently and see the potential of this property. I remember going to the Empire when this was the "place" to see movies. It used to be really beauti...

Old Courthouse
Personally, I like the Zimmer proposal better. I keep reading about people saying that there is a lack of connectivity in KC. Here is a great chance to connect the downtown business core with the government center. Throw the public library into the mix and people will have some reasons to come downt...

Waddell/Reed/Copaken?
Apparently the so-called done deal in Briarcliff is not finalized quite yet. There seems to be a last ditch effort to get Copaken involved with pursuing Waddell to choose the PAC site. Supposedly, the EDC will put together an offer for Waddell. May be the last chance. GO KC!

You're probably seen this old Onion article.
Manson looks like a freak, but this is one of those cases where you can't judge a book by its cover. If you get the chance, see a movie called " Bowling for Columbine", directed by Michael Moore. He has a sequence in that movie where he interviews the "freak" (Manson) himself. To...

Union Hill/Trinity Lutheran site
Saw the article this morning about the Fed considering the Trinity site as a campus. Hope they reconsider. KC cannot afford to lose any more employees from within the "loop." I think that the Trinity site should have a more mixed use design. High density residential should take advantage o...

I think the KC team is working hard, but I also realize that there is an inferiority complex, especially when we talk about downtown in comparison to other Metro sites. Part of it is that no one wants to take a chance on downtown. It's goint to take a hometown company to pull this off(HR Block). How...

KC needs to get its act together. This is the time to step up to the plate. What is Andy Urdis doing about this? KC has so many options available, how can Riverside  possibly compete with KC? If anything is going to happen downtown, we need a can do attitude. Make them an offer they cannot ref...

Union Hill/Trinity Lutheran site
Has anyone heard what the plan is for the old Trinity Lutheran hospital site at 27th and Main. This is a prime piece of "urban" landscape. Being situated across the street from the historic Union Hill, close to Penn Valley Park/Liberty Memorial, nearby shopping and on the bus line affords ...

OFFICIAL - Federal Reserve HQ construction
I think the Fed has said that they wanted an campus style environment. Where in downtown KC are you going to offer that? They want a dominant presence, a skyscraper would be nice, but that doesn't fit the Fed's need. I think keeping the riverfront open as an option. Once people work down there, then...

OFFICIAL - Federal Reserve HQ construction
I would agree that keeping employers within the loop is important. But I think we realize that downtown is changing. What is considered downtown? Is that only within the "loop?" Ideally, we would open our access to the riverfront by removing the loop, especially north of downtown. Not only...

OFFICIAL - Federal Reserve HQ construction
I thought at some point in time, city officials wanted to place the Fed along the riverfront. Seems like a dominant presence, especially for such an employer. The city needs to push these sites because they offer one thing Johnsom County cannot, riverfront location. We should be pushing these sites,...

UMKC
I just saw an article the other day about improving UMKC. There have been numerous proposals over the years. Now that the Stowers Institute is in place, as well as improvements to the Brush Creek area, it makes sense to make UMKC a true "urban" university. It would be nice if they decided ...
