I have had worse than La Mesa, however they can't compare to Mi Ranchito. Muy Sabroso!BEERMAN wrote: worst mexican ever.

Re: Olathe Pointe sold
Is there any reason this particular strip mall made "breaking news" for being sold? Forgive me if I'm wrong but isn't this just a typical lifestyle power center? What am I missing? I think it is breaking news because of the size of the sale - $29 million. I just saw some small articles...

SureWest is coming into the northern parts of Olathe this fall. Not sure when they will cover the whole city. Comcast's non-compete is up next year I believe.KansasCityCraka wrote: Are they allowed in Olathe soon? I thought Comcast signed a non-compete that extended to 2010?

I am not too wild about the development group that built Olathe Pointe. Hope this company is an upgrade.

Re: Olathe and 3 closed Italian eateries
There is already one at K-10 and Ridgeview. Are you saying this one is closing or there is another one opening somewhere else on Ridgeview? There is another Mr Goodcents on Ridgeview just south of Kansas City Road. It moved a month ago from the Kansas City Road location that was just a block away ...

Re: Dismantling of Great Mall (ongoing)
I don't see a future for the Great Mall as it stands. It surprises me that La Quinta built a new hotel on their perimeters. I understand that a lot of it's business is related to the adjacent hospital. Medical offices has been the only development on that part of 151st lately. Perhaps it could ...

Re: 300,000 s.f. Office for Lenexa
Does the greens design extend to transportation? Transportation-related emissions are the biggest contributor to climate change in this region, so I'm skeptical of a "green" building that in a location without usable public transportation. What bus routes serve this location? How many ...

Re: Olathe getting a Convention Center and so on type Hotel
This ties right in with the Corporate Ridge Business Park, giving the companies there a convention hotel to host their conference needs. Corporate Ridge is turning into a very nice business park - far better than I envisioned when it started. It still isn't Corporate Woods, but it is turning into ...

Re: Olathe and 3 closed Italian eateries
Olathe still has the Olive Garden, Zios and Garozzos for Italian food. The Olive Garden is always packed. I ate at Gambuccis, Johnny Carrinos and Carrabas, and the food and/or service was uneven - good one time and not so good the next. La Mesa was an OK Mexican restaurant, but Chapala and Mi Ranc...

Re: Royals: level fanbase with 15% tix hike
There are several things going on here. Attendence rose around 15% this year. The $3 million is an estimate based upon current attendance. If attendance continues to rise, this is more than $3 million next year, and the key thing is how it sets up price hikes in future years. This won't be the l...

Re: Olathe Bass Pro Shop
I absolutely love the roundabouts that have been constructed in Olathe. Bye bye stop lights. Hello smoother, quicker and more efficient traffic flow. The only annoying thing about them is when you get stuck behind an out of towner that doesn't have a clue how to negotiate one. Amen. Traffic goes...

Re: Tornado tower resurfaces
I like the idea of a Tornado tower for Kansas. Like it or not, it is what people think about when they think Kansas. For the families that have lost loved ones, there should be a reflecting garden to honor the lives taken by tornadoes - possibly with small monuments for each state. It would also ...

Well, after close to a week, it looks like there have been good crowds, but not the big numbers that were feared/expected. I live around the corner from Bass Pro, and traffic has not been affected very much (at least I haven't been affected by it - though I am still very much cursed by crossing tra...

I spent two weeks in Minneapolis last fall. My father had a triple bypass at the VA Center there, so I was in the southern portion by the Mall of the Americas and the airport. I am going to skip the whole white/black discussion ('cause it bores me), and go back to the original discussion on how th...

Re: Olathe/OP grab the Wizards and build them a Stadium
Johnson County just got back into this stadium race in a big way this week. As noted in the Star, the Kansas Senate approved some changes to STAR Bonds that may allow private ownership of sports stadiums. The article mostly focused on Olathe and its attempts to get the changes, but a small item tu...

Frank,
The OP Arena died, because the developer could not make it work on the ground they had without building parking garages. When they went to OP for money for the parking garages, OP said no, they weren't interested in paying for the garages.

Re: Olathe/OP grab the Wizards and build them a Stadium
JOCO resident here - the initiative failed for several reasons. The first reason is that the JOCO Parks Board tried to pretend that these soccer fields had nothing to do with the Wizards stadium, even though the only reason to pay the extra $20 million (over the Olathe & DeSoto sites) was becaus...
