Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
“I don’t want the ballpark here so I’m gonna scratch and claw for anything to support my position”
Argument 1: “Where is everyone going to park?!?!?”

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
instead of the location, I'd like to discuss the design. So populous is working on it I guess? 95% of their stadiums are boring, generic modern spaceships. They designed Miami and Atlanta's baseball stadiums which are both trash, but they also did Minneapolis and and New Yankee which are both great...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
First off this is a small part of the entire crossroads, but mostly, that area is just not well developed at all. I mean I don't get the love for the area. I hate tearing things down, but geez. That area is not really urban, it's half parking lots and very few of the buildings are worth getting wor...

Another thought, would this be a boon to the streetcar TDD? I’m unsure exactly how that works.

So 1/4 of the block. Got it. It’s basically 77th and Wornall over there. It’s not 5th Ave.KCPowercat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 11:40 am I'm just talking the grand side. Again just one of many reasons this is a bad location, not the biggest reason

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Maybe I’m misreading the drawings but is the concern really over losing an entire block of surface parking, the rape bar on the corner and some 1-2 story nothings? If nothing else it would reduce the amount of curb cuts tremendously. That block has one curb cut. Again it's not about the current bus...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Are we really worried about tearing down 1-2 story post war crap buildings just because “They’re kinda old”?
I don’t hate the Star building plan. The Crosroads guys can bitch all day, it won’t matter. Sharon Rensenhouse and those “churches” will happily take a payday.

Quindaro Ruins stuff is cool and this also feels like the team is starting to finish off it's debt obligations to the UG. I think we'll see some movement soon enough now.

Re: Sporting Kansas City
So it looks like KC now has one of the smallest stadiums in MLS and for that reason KC's attendance has fallen down to 19th? https://soccerstadiumdigest.com/2023-mls-attendance/ I'm sure on many weekends KC could draw 25-30k. Besides the terrible location, isn't this another reason to build a new s...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
KC only has like 1 or 2 games below 30 degrees a year. People made big deal about Detroit and Minnesota moving inside also. Chicago is going to do the same thing soon. The cold doesn’t bother these guys. Half played in worse weather in college and they all practice indoors anyway.

Re: Sporting Kansas City
My home in Leawood is only 24 miles from the Legends and I can literally get out there is 20 minutes. Nobody who lives in Leawood ever goes to the Legends. Source: someone who grew up in Leawood my whole life. And recently. Sporting KC being way out in the Legends is a big reason we never went to g...

Re: Sporting Kansas City
You guys don't make sense. First off it's more like 15-30 miles for most of KC to get to sporting games. Unless you are in western Shawnee or something that stadium is a hike for 90% of metro KC. I can drive 75mph for 15-30 miles here in DC and can quickly be in the middle of nowhere even here. Doe...

Re: Sporting Kansas City
10 miles going 75mph on an interstate is nothing. The last numbers I saw said SKC’s average age of a season ticket holder was 29.7. That’s extremely young for a pro team. Additionally, over 40% of season ticket holders are f Johnson County. You can get to I-70 and 435 pretty quickly from many parts ...
