Re: Where do most Johnson Countians come from? -a serious question-

Tally up another one for entering the world at St. Mary's. Sorry to see it go. Now I guess we can point at the Federal Reserve and say "hey, that's where I was born".

Re: Our dead Downtown finally caught up with us...

Do you want to know when business in Joco will leave to come back to downtown?  When their tax abatements are over. I was under the impression that tax abatements would remain in place if the owners sold their properties. I'm pretty sure that's the case in KCMO. Besides, those JOCO businessess cou...

Re: My Favorite Plaza Store

Another nice thing about the Mac is that it is never the target of the virus creating scum. When it first came out, the FBI/CIA virus landed in my mail. But for some strange reason the e mail was addressed to my soon to be ex brother in law. Like an idiot I just had to see what kind of shit he was i...

Re: My Favorite Plaza Store

If you PC guys played around on the Mac OS for a few days you might change your minds. For Filmmakers, photographers, graphic artists and a lot of the creative types out there, it's the platform of choice. The i life apps are pretty fun too. If your pastime is killing creatures on line you may want ...

Re: The Star rates top ten local suburban hellholes

I think that's Tosspot and Warwick's point.  You can have suburbs that take these into account, and through good planning we can protect chunks of open space that preserve or develop full and healthy eco systems, rather than what tends to occur when unstructured development only leaves small piece...

Re: The Star rates top ten local suburban hellholes

So where does this Tosspottopia exist? Give me one example of your perfectly run world. The more I read your posts, the more I think of a really good example of Monday morning quarterbacking. but the game wasn't on Sunday, it was played for the last 300 years. And you told me that you wouldn't impug...

Re: The Star rates top ten local suburban hellholes

Well, I sure don't like being refered to as disingenuous. As I stated before, I moved to my property 14 years ago. Before the burbs were on the horizon. I do love nature, I live in a very natural setting that we have fought to preserve. We won that fight. The houses and developer lost. So, unless yo...

Re: The Star rates top ten local suburban hellholes

So what's next Tosspot? Where do you take your passion? Despising 70% of the metropolitan area is not going to be easy to overcome. You really do make a great argument for your position. I'm impressed with the depth of your knowledge. I can't debate you on this issue, I know when I've been whupped. ...

Re: The Star rates top ten local suburban hellholes

Tosspot, Warwickland, I come in peace.  You guys have made your points pretty clear. Once again, I'm not here to defend the Star and it's "puffpiece". I'm not that big a fan of the KC Star. I guess I am defending the suburbs somewhat which is fascinating because I've fought development and...

Re: The Star rates top ten local suburban hellholes

While I certainly understand your frustration with the sprawling suburbs, I think you need to think about how we got into this situation in the first place. In my eyes, the main reason that the KC area keeps on spreading out is that it can. There are many many cities in the US that don't have an unl...

Yo Tosspot... Life is WAY too short. Go ahead and call me an average blithering American if you want.... I fou...

Wow. How pathetic are the Arizona Cardinals. I'll bet the ASU Sun Devels rank higher than that.

Re: Studio brings movie magic to River Market

You're right. WM biz would be at least half of it... That building should be pretty impressive. I read that they finally worked out their issues with the neighborhood association that was fighting it. There were height issues..  I guess that the project is well over 100 mil. at this point. The Berns...

Re: Studio brings movie magic to River Market

Ah yes... Joe Pytka. America's biggest ass. Bo knows! The production community here is still pretty strong. Some people in this forum wont like this but KC's biggest source of film and video work is Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is not just huge for the film community but it's Bernstein Rein's biggest client b...

Re: Studio brings movie magic to River Market

OK, time to chime in on the discussion. In my opinion, KC USED to have a pretty good film office. When Patty Watkins was in charge. Patty was very active in the existing film /video community as well as attending all the out of town industry conventions where she would sell the KC area to studios an...
