Re: Columbus Park To Get A Bank at 5th and Holmes
Schugg, I didn't have one with me when I drove by last night. I wasn't in the neighborhood taking photos, but instead taking some magazines for recycling that I had in my trunk to the bin near the church.

I drove by this building tonight, and it now has awnings and lighting. It looks really good lit up at night.

Re: AMC coming to Empire, Midland to be restored...
Is the Midland going to open before the Mainstreet? I was walking down Main under the scaffolding today and noticed the marquee read Opening Summer 2008.

Re: Calorie Count on Menus
It would seem to me that the best way to go to educate the customer about calories would be to program the cash registers to interact with a computer and print out the nutrition information on the a receipt for each selection and purchase. The shocking high calorie counts for some of these dishes pr...

Re: Effect of P&L District on The Plaza
The City should identify a route with wayfinder signs and make it friendly to pedestrians. J.C. Nichols Parkway might be the best route, but there should also be one street through the residential/St. Luke's neighborhood. Perhaps Wornall to Pennsylvania.

Re: New Convention Hotel talk
The lack of good mass transit is a factor in making Kansas City a good convention choice or not. Do the major hotels have shuttle buses that pick travelers up from the airport, or is it up the guest to get there on their own?

Re: OFFICIAL: Troost BRT
A lot of people use the #25 to get to Truman Medical Center, Children's Mercy Hospital, UMKC medical and dental Schools. I would think a BRT would increase the number of people who would use mass transit to get there instead of taking a car. That includes employees and students.

Re: New Convention Hotel talk
I'm convinced at this point that downtown does need another, new convention hotel. However, I don't know if there is the political will to build it. It is quite apparent that Kansas City doesn't have enough rooms near Bartle Hall to keep even mid-sized conventions. The hotel is the missing compone...

Re: Calorie Count on Menus
It is problematic. Do you hand out nutritional information on a sheet of paper the size of a fold-out roadmap? On the other hand, some of these dishes have one's entire calorie, cholesterol, saturated fat count for the entire day. Most people eating out are completely unaware of how many calories an...

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District
They could have also gone to Town Topic or Denny's. How late does Quaff and Tanner's serve food? They didn't have to wait until they got back to Topeka to eat. There are plenty of 24-hour fast-food restaurants on the way home. However, it would be nice if many of the P&L restaurants served food ...
