Re: Voter registration

I would double check with your local election board. If you moved within the KCMO part of Jackson County, you would contact the Kansas City election board (not the Jackson County election board). Otherwise, you'd contact the election board of Cass, Clay or Platte County if you live within the city l...

Re: Big 12 Tournament

I haven't really noticed an "influx" of out of towners this year. It's been mostly local fans of the various teams. Still a lot of people, just not as many from out of town as in past years.

Re: Fixing KC's lack of downtown parking?

I'm all for adding more signs if that works. But I was a suburbanite for years and I didn't need signs to tell me where to park.

If they help, great! But I have heard no complaints from suburbanites I know about downtown parking.

Re: Politics

Even DEMs were surprised by the elections yesterday. I'm actually rather surprised there doesn't seem to be a bunch of people howling about voter fraud. So... at least some on the left are surprised to see Dems win in blue states? They're surprised that the losing side doesn't have a "scream helple...

And the red could represent the blood of those who fought and died for Kansas City's freedom during the Great American War of Spain... or something cool like that.

Now we just need to blue to represent something and the red to represent something and I think we've got ourselves a city flag!

https://i.imgur.com/PtGAjJJ.png I like this one because it's simple. It also reminds me of Chicago's flag: http://flagpolesetc.com/sites/default/files/pictures/Blog%20Photos/Chicago%20City%20Flag%20Current.png https://i.imgur.com/TA8V5pf.png =D> LOVE this one! Re: Politics

Why would I be against treating better? Morally and practically, I believe in treating people better. You said people probably wouldn't like a white person holding an ALM sign at a BLM rally. Ok, fine. So, I asked what if it's a black person holding an ALM sign at a BLM rally? That's not a straw man...

Re: Politics

"All Lives Matter" is a racist movement not because the statement "all lives matter" isn't true on its face but because that's not what the movement actually stands for. I'm not taking about the ALM movement. I'm just saying BLM and the alt right don't seem to believe that all lives actually matter...

Re: Politics

All very excellent points, shinatoo. Very well said, too. I appreciate that. Thanks. While I can't think of any good reason why a white supremacist group would be founded, I do think BLM was founded with the best of intentions to fix a racial injustice. I can fully support that cause! However, sadly...

Re: Politics

Well, I am sure many in that group do. But, as a group, their actions (or inactions) would indicate otherwise.

Go to a BLM rally holding a sign that says, "All lives matter" and see how you're treated. If the videos on YouTube are any indication, they probably won't like that.

Re: Politics

I assume you are trying to equate the two? The Alt right and BLM? Yes and no. Yes, in the sense they're both groups founded on a particular race and they both can use violence/scare tactics to make their points and neither seem to believe in an "all lives matter" society. No, in the sense they were...

It wouldn't surprise me if Trump invites them to the White House like Obama invited BLM.

In any event, while white supremacists are protesting in Virginia, Missouri remains the only state on the NAACP's travel warning list.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

Are there other cities of about half a million people that have the same problem KC does? The most dense part of the city is also the most insignificant.

Usually, the most dense areas control the election results in that city or state. But that doesn't seem to be the case in either KC or Missouri.
