Re: P&L Building

BNIM is relocating to the TWA building in the Xroads. http://www.kansascity.com/news/business/article1344763.html I would like to nominate this for one of the star's worst headlines of the year - not an easy achievement to bag. They go out of the way to suggest in the headline that this is some sor...

Re: Oklahoma Joe's rebranding as "Joe's Kansas City"?

You just need to get used to the European way of naming restaurants.

We all had the same reaction to Sporting KC.

Re: Crown Center: urban disaster, shining star, or in-betwee

Some tid-bits on Halls... • Café: H BAR, a full-service café and bar serving soups, salads, sandwiches and cocktails, will seat about 20 people. Kansas City's Roasterie is creating a Halls on Grand specialty blend of coffee for the café. • The Bridge: In an overpass structure that spans Grand Boulev...

Re: Wonderful Waldo

A cheapo banner has been hung on the front, peaked inside yesterday and they were still working inside, but it doesn't look too far off. http://www.pizzamanifesto.com/ Hope the pizza is better than their website. I tried this place on Sunday and overall was very pleased. You essentially "make&...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

Tried to find this answer in the search function but could not. So...out and about last night. The friends and were talking about the streetcar. Some questions came up that I had no answers for. Why did we not pursue an elevated rail line? Isn't that cheaper and a fast mode of transportation? I am ...

Re: Nextdoor.com

We use eNeighbors as well. It's fine, I get weekly emails about a suspicious vehicle in the area, or someone looking for a cheap reputable person who does something. We do have pretty good amount of our neghiborhood signed up for it, so that is good.

Re: Lighting up KC's skyscrapers

Man, that takes me back to my childhood on KCP&L building. I haven't seen it changing colors like that in a while. The giant timpani drum lights that are on the setbacks (can't see them unless you're up there) probably have enough copper in them to pay for new efficient LED lights. I have 2 of ...

Re: beer.

What I really want to see, and KCBC comes very close, is a bar where everybody sings. It's not implausible in that space. In the hour or so that we spent, we got really comfortable with our neighbors at the long tables. Adding singing to it would be absolutely brilliant. Also, rename the place. Kan...

Re: beer.

I've been twice now, went 30 minutes after they opened and it was packed to the gills, standing room only. I had the Hopfen doof - German take on an IPA. It was really good, I was a big fan. My second visit I got a seat at the bar and ordered the flight and a sausage/meat tray. I was underwhelmed by...

Re: The Official Kansas City Weather Thread

Apparently you can decide to close city streets if they are too dangerous! Ha! Feb. 6, 11 a.m. update: 27th Street Due to the condition of the road and safety concerns, Hallmark's facilities team has decided to close 27th Street between Gilham and McGee (south of the Rice Center parking garage). The...

Holy cow! Every time I think I've got a bearing on how foolish the KS Leg is, I am surprised again http://consumerist.com/2014/01/30/kansas-legislature-wants-to-stop-any-other-kansas-cities-from-getting-google-fiber/ What's the motivation behind this? I didn't think it was clear from the Consumeris...

Re: Cucina della Ragazza

I saw Carbonara on their online menu, but when I asked if maybe it was lunch only and I was looking at the wrong menu, the bartender was very puzzled and said they'd never had it on the menu. I ordered my backup choice from the menu in my hand, but she came back and said the chef told her it was his...

Re: P&L Building

Would rather see hotel/apt combo for this building (with extension to W side) but the more Loop housing the better. 909 Walnut is already tallest residential in Midwest outside Chicago. This would be even a bit taller. Can the tower realistically be accessible to tenants? Highly doubt it. There is ...
