I remember this sign.
It was on one of the shorter buildings on Grand or Main (between 12th-13th) that was tore down for P&L.

Re: OFFICIAL - New Downtown YMCA (former Lyric Theater)
^ destroying the old structure is such a crazy waste.
They could have built state-of-the-art brand new on the corner or at the original planned site on Grand.
What a wasted opportunity

The sign looks pretty cool so far.
Now hoping the Mainmark Building would add one.

Re: How Kansas City got its' name
Hate to bust your bubble, but the first Kansas City, the village of Canzes, existed in modern day Doniphan, Co. Kansas, centuries before Possum Trot, Missouri was settled. So what? "Village of Canzes" can keep that name, it has nothing to do with the conversation. Dumont writes about it i...

Re: How Kansas City got its' name
Being named after the river that starts (or ends?) here makes total sense. Anyway, the Kansas River was regularly used by steamboats in the 1850s & 1860s, all the way to Ft. Riley, so it had commerce traffic. No it makes no sense because the kansas river did NOT end in KC. The kansas river was ...

Re: How Kansas City got its' name
Every time I read ridiculous articles claiming that Kansas City was named after the ""Kansas River" I have to laugh. These writers always have a Kansas bias of some sort and constantly try to claim Kansas City for the state of Kansas. The article claims this at the start and notice th...

.... IMO this look doesn't fit The Crossroads rugged and industrial feel. .... The Crossroads' largest building is designed entirely out of smooth curves. I hate corresponding with you (and when I say hate - it's a deep-seated loathing). As usual your half-witted replies are veiled attempts to argu...

Re: 1800 Walnut
I don't like the waves. IMO they are neither artistic nor are attractive. They will also block outward views while making the building look unfinished (at first glance). Thankfully they only appear on the east side of the building. IMO this look doesn't fit The Crossroads rugged and industrial feel....

Re: The Junction Before and After, North Loop Removal
If there were THAT much demand to develop the space(s) between the financial district and the River Market, then there wouldn't be full city blocks of parking undeveloped parking lots that people won't use adjacent to the big bad (but useful, even if constructed poorly) highway that moves people ba...

Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)
A very good view of the construction is now visible from the Liberty Memorial deck. It is apparent that due to the tower being set back somewhat from Baltimore that only the lower western section of the P & L bldng will be obstructed from the south. Excellent. And with the new Bravo Hotel propo...

Theis Park is a joke, never used and is simply open space.
If the right developer or project came along, the city should seriously consider the exchange.

Re: 1800 Walnut
Not every building has to have retail, it would be great, but this fits in the neighborhood.
All of the short, older buildings in the Crossroads have storefronts.
I don't see why every taller, new construction project should have to have multiple storefronts.
I hope this gets started soon.

Re: Open Spaces - Kansas City Arts Experience
Location, location, location = fail. This city simply cannot get it right. They keep throwing events at Swope Park and nothing is successful. Example: The Ethnic Fest should have 10 times more visitors than it gets. But who wants to park in a field and walk a mile through tall, chigger-infested gras...

Re: UMKC Conservatory of Music considers move to downtown
This whole debacle reminds me of how UMKC School of Law once had a plan to buy and convert the old Federal Courthouse (811 Grand) that had all of the lush courtrooms, research library and study rooms and move the school there. They eventually abandoned the plan.
