Re: Straddle Bus - The Future?

Seems like, in places with less congestion, we could save some money and hassle by building something similar. We'd just lower it to curb height and put up stations right on the sidewalk. In fact, if we can't afford that, we could just put up a sign. You could step right on.

Re: Polsinelli Shuhart HQ @ 47th/Broadway

same could've been said about any project that ever removes another property to move forward. P+L/Sprint Center, anyone? trying to stop the project altogether because it's not where you want it to be will end up backfiring. That misses the point. The point is that this project could be accommodated...

Harry's, Cashew and Fric and Frac all have Bob's. I think it is all out there.

I had heard September 1. The later date probably makes more sense though.

Re: Bathroom Renovation Recommendations?

I don't think I can do this. I'd have to build in some dead space, or do it on just one side. 2 of the 3 shower walls are dividing walls between my condo and the neighbor, so I can't dig into those walls as they are shared elements. I really do like the idea of spaces like this, though, so I'll have...

Re: Bathroom Renovation Recommendations?

For light fixtures, I highly recommend Rensen, particularly their Independence location, which is now an outlet store. For toilet, tub, etc., try Dorfman Plumbing at 18th and Cherry. Ask for Jill. They have several toilets hooked up, and that's important because not all dual-flush models are alike,...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

It was north of 5th and south of 2nd, from Broadway to Walnut, from what I heard -- though that wouldn't explain Harry's. Apparently it is back flowing but there was a small army of water services people in the neighborhood trying to figure it out, including many chased out of their offices still we...

why don't you give them some pointers? might as well not have a twitter if you're doing vacant plugs like that. I have, gently. Problem is, I think they are being done gratis by a "consultant" in this field, so it might be viewed as an affront. It really is an issue of time, I think. They...

Re: Private Car Share

staubio, I'm in if I wind up moving to RM. I'll need a car two or three days/wk max. Sounds like we've got a deal here. Just went to take the car in to replace a cracked radiator that I'm finally going to fix. It last moved July 4th. The battery was too dead to turn it over, so I guess I'll get bac...

Re: New convenience store/deli on 3rd street??

Bloom! Bakery is great. Catch them as they're closing, and they'll sometimes give you 2 for 1 on what they haven't sold that day. The Almond Croissants are excellent even at that point. Yesterday grabbed some Potato Bread from Bloom!, next door at Carollo's Double Smoked Bacon at 3.99 pound (that's...

The Evo is getting 2.2 (Froyo) officially on Tuesday, though rumors say it'll begin trickling out earlier for people who manually check for updates. It'll be an over the air update that won't wipe your data.

I think people often think this is our name internationally, so they refer to us as "Kansas" since we're the only team here.

...and by the way, our current transit system isn't terrible. Using it from time to time when it makes sense for you instead of simply broadly dismissing transit in KC seems like a better option. The MAX? Why yes, it is pretty handy.

No, you could do whatever you wanted with it. I just mean that they'd be stored in the loop and River Market for pick-up.

Zipcar

I know we've talked about car share concepts in the past but I wanted to start a thread dedicated to the idea. I've had a car since I've lived in KC, but I live and work downtown and now use my car every couple of weeks or so. When I can, I let friends borrow it to make better use of it, but mostly ...

Great pictures. I love Leadville. I've actually ridden that road in the valley from Salida. A great day of 60 miles of constant climbing. That area changed my negative view of Colorado as a state full of resorts, condos and snow bunnies. Absolutely beautiful.

Yes, and then we invest still more millions into making it easier for people to sprawl further and further out, until the whole house of cards falls down on us.

It is only in the actual desktop application for Google Earth, not the sat imagery in Google Maps online. In the application, there is a clock icon at the top that you click to bring up the slider.
