Re: Learning from Phase 2 OR Rising from the Ashes
Just because say 1/3 of the last election area voted yes for the plan doesn't mean you can just change the next election to be for just that area at 3 times the rate. I voted yes in the last election, but if one sliver of the city is going to shoulder 100% of the cost for the benefit of a much larg...

Re: Anti-rail proposed ordinance
it has major first amendment problems. they can deny it and have a federal case having nothing to do with rail it would cover 100% of employees including people in unrelated departments and potentially even people with contracts with the city. someone working in the 311 call center answering phones ...

Re: Roanoke Park Improvements
Swope has all the same problems and then some. It has issues with disconnected areas. West of the railroad, to get from 63rd to Gregory in the park is best done by using 435 or walking through the woods. This park should be listed on those Blue District informational signs, place it right at SW Traf...

Re: Swope Park Access
SW Trafficway is the through street. close the ramps, reroute Broadway traffic to align with 27th, turn Penn Valley Road into a 2-lane road with on street parking. take the SW Trafficway I-35 onramp and put it into a tunnel under 27th. this gives the ramp a dedicated lane, improving safety and capac...

Re: Film Row building threatened with demolition
If I were choosing where I would put one much closer to at P&L, Bartle Hall, and Union Station or Crown Center or in general along the streetcar corridor. put them where the people are, not on the side of a building blocks away from everything. I would actually put one across the street at the h...

Re: Learning from Phase 2 OR Rising from the Ashes
I don't buy the idea that because Main St residents voted for the previous plan they will want to shoulder the entire plan on their own. There's a big difference getting a lot of people to help pay for something that primarily benefits you and paying for it yourself. Of course, dumping the East Sid...

Re: Anti-rail proposed ordinance
I just noticed it gets worse. This ordinance attempts to ban discussing *freight* rail projects without a city vote.
This is one gutsy ordinance.

Re: Anti-rail proposed ordinance
In the language of the ordinance, what constitutes "planning for"? Is Sly James simply talking to Russ Johnson about streetcar considered planning? It seems like any city officials discussing a hypothetical situation of the streetcar expanding would run them afoul of this law. In which ca...

Politics matters as much as speed.
We want a downtown business community that is happy with how construction is progressing, not to be funding opposition

Not really, because it's not one project, it's a dozen different ones. There's all the utility companies on the corridor too. MGE, KCPL, water and sewers and fire hydrants, steam (which I think they mainly avoided), the smart city project, and a bunch of telcos. Water and utility work didn't go on t...

Bank of America is actually reducing the number of ATMs in their network on purpose. Don't expect movement on that. Why on earth? And even if that's so, I would think this would be one location where an ATM is necessary. They've already closed 1000 in 5 years. They're also reducing drive up windows...

NB now goes from before the crossover at Union Station through to just before 13th and just north of 7th through to just before 3rd. So there's 6 blocks left on that side. The turn onto 5th is a huge difference in grade from what's there today. SB remains where it was last year. Truman Rd North thro...

So is North or South KC rollout just getting started or pretty well along? Who there has it or not? Also does Comcast in KC area still have a data cap of so many Gigabytes/month? I see trucks now, nothing near me yet. Irony is all the Comcast caps are equal to several minutes of service with Google

The name of a company or an organization is an asset. And like any other asset it can be sold or bought. And a business or an organization can make a decision to cease operations. And transferring a corporation's assets to avoid payment of contractual liabilities is fraud. Only if the asset is used...

All her neighbors know. The city can take the upper hand and make her look bad. They follow the law, she doesn'tchaglang wrote:And the city hasn't cited her for this... why?
And besides, the deed is clear so the KCATA doesn't need to do anything to use that land besides tear the fence down and move a shed.
