Re: OFFICIAL - Wallstreet Tower (formerly US Bank Tower)
I stopped in this weekend just for a quick drink to check the place out. It's a nice space so I hope it works out. One thing that's kind of cool is that the courtyard (which is covered by the liquor license) is smoke-free too. If you want to smoke, you have to go up the stairs to the sidewalk.

Re: Film Row building threatened with demolition
The garage retail spot finally has a tenant, six years after the Orion was demolished: https://www.kansascity.com/news/business/biz-columns-blogs/cityscape/article235399357.html I stopped in a couple of nights ago. The owners seem nice (one of whom I'd met before). Good beer and whisky selection, I...

Downtown hotels are now getting away w/out much parking if any. Many who visit don't rent a car. Not sure if a 'luxury' hotel can pull it off but will be interesting to see how they play this. From my experience, higher end customers are more likely to fly into a city and more likely to Uber around...

I took the same picture from almost the same spot a couple of weeks ago and forgot to post it. I absolutely love the way the old buildings are reflected in that glass.

[The state applications were due around August 17th. The applicants won't know if they have a license until the end of December. It's a pretty risky gamble. So there is still a good chance the location here will be denied and something else will go in there instead. 2100 license applications were s...

I say tear it down and build a real hotel/casino combo with a streetcar extension. Yes! The current building/boat has become such an eyesore both inside and out that I don't see how anything can fix it. They need to start over. This should have been the premiere casino in Kansas City, not the dumpi...

I just noticed that place a couple of days ago as I was heading to an appointment across the street. It sounded good and I was starving and wanted to go in, but unfortunately I was there for a dentist appointment and couldn't eat for 2 hours afterward. I was always fond of the couple that ran it whe...

Re: medical marijuana
illinois legalized full recreational use and sale, including the metro east of st. louis. not sure how that will influence missouri, yet. Since anything opening in the east suburbs of St. Louis will be making most of their fortune off Missouri residents (I jest, of course, nobody will do that becau...

I saw this posted on Reddit. I've been coming a different way to work this week so haven't seen whatever this person is talking about yet myself, but I thought maybe somebody here might know: What are they doing to the tensegrity at 27th and main? It's my favorite piece of public art in KC. I hope t...

When's that place supposed to open? They have had the roof top sign covered forever...who knows :-k I keep coming across posts from people just noticing that for the first time, thinking it's something new, and thinking that the city was embarrassed to "just now" find out about their buil...

I was more comparing the Sarpinos in Westport with what I had out south at Sarpinos (OP or Leawood). The quality was better out South. I just assume it's harder to staff a place in the middle of the city that's open 'til 4a or whatever. They definitely fill a need - just not for me. It's definitely...

With all the work they did to get it spruced up for the WW1 centennial, I'm surprised it looks this bad already. Though I can honestly say that it's been a very long time since I have noticed any of the fountains actually running.
