Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
The latest the shops are even stated to be open is 11 and most of the time our last flight is gone by 10 (tonight 2 past 10} so why are we asking them to stay open past that. Why is that incompetent? I've also not experienced broken or dirty bathrooms my last few visits. My last pickup of someone i...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Evening pickups are consistently a mess. The airport is physically beautiful and opens many doors from a logistical POV. However, the operations (all non-automated shops/restaurants closed before 10:00 pm, broken/dirty bathrooms, pickup enforcement) are just about as podunk/incompetent as in the old...

Re: Urbanism, architecture, transit, strawmen, etc.
Architecture reviews are helpful to nobody except maybe the failed architects & planners working in the department.
Dave pretty much nailed it, added cost, months of delays and often the design is crappier/cheaper… even if it now “meets” the aesthetic of the area.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Not to sound like the local media, but basic cleaning at the airport needs a lot of work. The bathrooms in particular have been pretty gross the last few times I’ve flown. Towels all over the ground, dirty mirrors, broken sinks, and 1/2 of the bathroom closed with seemingly no staff working on clean...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??
Defending tagging and littering is a weird hill to die on. Yes, it's common in most cities and so is dog shit. It doesn't make it desirable or good.

Re: 1650 Broadway
The city still has some absurd setbacks along its boulevard system, but I don't believe this area of Broadway has them. Setbacks in this instance are more about what the client wants. If the client wants a curvaceous, Miami-style tower like this, then that's what the architect will design. IMO, you ...

Re: 112 & 206 East 31st
My free architect assessment: - Wide raised crosswalk is nice but shouldn't substitute for a traditional crosswalk at grand & 31st. - Lack of bathtubs in the 2 bedroom seems like a miss. You're cutting out potential tenants, a lot of young families are going to want a bathtub - Conversely, the W...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
I thought they were going to do that anyway, I was surprised when they said that would be employee parking. They could also have the blue buses stop at the terminal C parking garage or use the red buses for that garage an make it the mid level garage. I agree with you GRID. I revised my post after ...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
The C garage is sitting empty. No reason they couldn't repurpose that as an overflow covered parking lot for the near-mid term. More importantly raise the daily rate. $28 is too low for a brand new garage that close. That said, this seems like a passing problem that should only arise 2-3 times a yea...

Re: Fixing the KC Zoo (ongoing)
It was called "The Journey" and was removed with the start of the zoo renewal around 2006-2007ish. If I remember correctly, the space was turned into offices and educational spaces. https://www.reddit.com/r/kansascity/comments/gcvcfg/kansas_city_zoo_the_journey_walkthrough/ This Reddit thr...

Re: Downtown Mission/ The Gateway
I hope the city requires an independent engineer to verify that the existing rebar/concrete (at the apartments & garage) is sound. It has sat exposed and untreated for far too long at this point. I imagine this developer will try to get away with using what's there, which could lead to longer-te...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
The area in red is slightly under 12 acres, the same as Target Field. Truist Park is between 12 & 13 acres.
You could get another acre or two for an eastern entry/ticketing plaza if you built over 670 along the west side of Holmes.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
The County might not 'play ball' for the jail site and/or with that location they could potentially insert themselves and have too much leverage on the process. I agree it is the best site. The county will already be involved given that the team is vacating Truman. Absolutely nothing indicates to m...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
The Jail site is the ideal compromise location. Landownership : There are far fewer landowners than Xroads sites. The majority of the jail site is held by the county or state which could relocate to the EV. The Jail is already leaving with no declared replacement. Neighborhood resistance : No neighb...

Re: 4711 Belleview
Would they be able to pull it off while getting 48th st to become a 2 way street? The Bodega seemed to be a major selling point on the corner of 48th in order to get it to become a 2 way street (which is long overdue) They can use that as leverage to get the city to approve a street change without ...

While exciting be forewarned that if they're not giving you a name, it could be tenant vaporware. A lot of developers are now using the possibility of neighborhood groceries or restaurants to sell their apartment projects in urban neighborhoods.
