Re: Politics

When your paycheck can be tied to the highest levels of the current administration without too many through points, yeah I think that’s worth a mention in a thread where you’re already volunteering a ton of thoughts on the election. It’s gonna impact your thought process, even if just subconsciously.

It also doesn’t help that the city completely undermined this type of development by approving traditional suburban retail just across the highway and single family homes right next door.

Re: OFFICIAL - Aspiria (formerly Sprint Campus)

This project leaves me a little disappointed. It should be a true urban infill project, but I think they fall short of true urbanism. Main issues: - Leaving the massive garages untouched & ADDING surface parking lots to the existing campus - Situating most of the new eastern development in tradi...

Re: Next Mayor 2019

I haven't looked at the FB group and I have no doubt it's filled with racism. I do have a hard time taking anything The Pitch publishes seriously. I feel they're KC's version of Huffpost or Mother Jones. It’s an alt weekly (or used to be before it went web based) I don’t think anybody’s under any i...

Re: New Broadway Bridge

Sure, I get that. But then you spend millions to build flyover ramps. I guess I'm just envisioning that Broadway entrance to the city as a main thoroughfare entrance to downtown and you guys are envisioning a "highway" that is passing over the rivermaket to get you to to and from I-35. Ma...

Re: New Broadway Bridge

When it comes to highway bridges I vote for makeing it as cheap as possible. Hopefully so cheap that no one even notices it. So many better things to spend money on. Even if they try to make it intresting it will be like the Bond bridge, another ho hum, me too, "iconic" (LOL) waste. Agree...

Re: Next Mayor 2019

Not surprising but, the Facebook group for recalling Mayor Lucas continues to be a cesspool of racism and white grievance politics. The Pitch has a decent write up:

Love the large canopies for the plaza stop. I wish the Union Station stops were retrofitted to include something like that.

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

If you look at plans submitted to the city there’s hints as to who will use what gates. Or at least Southwest vs non-SW gates. For SW, because of their unassigned boarding, they require more open space. At those gates you’ll find a bunch of little boxes on the ground. It would appear the general mov...

After how this year has been going, I think people would welcome a cowering space.

The Menlo (formerly Derma Doctor) building is effectively done with it's overhaul. Looks like just a sign at the McGee/19th corner is all that's missing. Really lovely in person and a big upgrade. Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

FWIW, the materiality for the arrivals area next to the roadway is a tough one. With the roadway above creating a semi-enclosed space that vehicles are traveling through, you have to abide by pretty stringent fire standards, ergo the precast concrete for the adjacent surfaces.

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

You’ve got it backwards. Lower level is arrivals; upper level is departures.

If you look back at the renderings for the baggage carousels you’ll see the windows sync up with the precast panels that have been placed.
