Re: Kansas City Officially Has A New Mayor - Mark Funkhouser
It also depends on who shows up to vote and how much those people have educated themselves on Funk. If the majority of the people showing up to vote are citizens who get their news/information from pro-Funkers, then we're all doomed!

Hmm - I thought ReVerse had reached an agreement w/Highwoods on the lease and was going to stay open. Had brunch there just yesterday and always love it on a Sunday morning.

Re: Kansas City Officially Has A New Mayor - Mark Funkhouser
The thing is if the project would have gone bye-bye after the first bid you guys would have been all over him for losing another one. Because it would have been his responsibility to save it. I think the best someone could say about Funk's involvement in this case is that his hands-off philosophy ...

LOL. I watched this on Netflix streaming the other week and thought it was fantastic. The sequel is playing at the Tivoli now - has anyone seen it?mudjack wrote: This is on Netflix's watch now list.
I wanted to like it, but I'm shallow. I couldn't get over her using a Mac and turned it off.

Hmm - I never saw them open late enough to get a Missie B's surge (not that it didn't happen). My problem with them was that the few times I ate there nothing really made me want to go back. Food = average, decor = average, prices = above average. If you're gonna open in a pre-fab strip mall with...

I think it's being rezoned for the new Aveda salon that's expanding in the old Band & Oluffson (sp?) spot.

Re: August 3 Election - Jackson County Legislature
I find it interesting that Fox News is publicizing Missouri's passing of Prop C as some major milestone and proof that all Americans hate the new health care bill. Shocking, I know, but they refuse to mention how underpublicized it was and that voter turnout was so low (below 25%). Basically, we ...

Re: Kansas City Officially Has A New Mayor - Mark Funkhouser
After all, that's the point, right? Get people to spend money here, to make money here, to live here, etc, so that the city can take its share of taxes out and everything will be awesome? Well, we've been working on that for a while. That IS the point of any economic policies. In regards to the ex...

Let's hope the people in town for the national tournaments end up getting tickets to the game Saturday. Seems a natural that soccer players/fans/families from out of town would have a lot of interest in that.

Louisville downtown hotel boom?
Interesting article on downtown Louisville possibly adding 840 new hotel rooms, with financing through HUD to finally build the Museum Plaza and put a Westin and a lower-priced brand hotel in it. Two additional hotels would open downtown. Opposition echos that in KC on whether new hotels are neede...

Maybe the projections included assuming an NBA or NHL tenant in the Sprint Center that would provide another 15,000 or so people spending money during home games?KCPowercat wrote: My bad.....my answer is no. The projections were just too high

Re: Drive, or walk, down Main Street in Midtown. Do it now!
It's also to make sure the curbs are in compliance w/ADA, and the crosswalks have raised edges so visually impaired people know when they're outside of the crosswalk. IF MAINCOR is paying streetscaping, I'm all for it, but I wish they wouldn't have decided to do all of the intersections at the same...
