Re: Target
To me, the spot that makes the most sense downtown is the empty lot just north of the P&L Building. This would put the Target near the rest of downtown's retail (possibly helping to draw more retail in) and also central to many of downtown's hotels and larger rental/condos.

Re: Downtown for Retirees?
I've never lived on the plaza, but as far as I can tell...there really aren't many basic amenities for actually living there.

Re: Downtown for Retirees?
I have quite a ways to go before even thinking about retiring, but I do see some retirees in the Quality Hill neighborhood.

Re: Historic Old Northeast
Nice Article in KC Star today about Independence Avenue Like the surrounding neighborhoods, it’s a melting pot of menus along Indy Avenue, which some see as the best hope for improving the image of a busy thoroughfare known more for its history of prostitution than its culinary fare. Their plan: Reb...

This thread was started close to a year ago...has this picked up any momentum since? Would love to see a grocery store in this neighborhood.

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L
The Corner Restaurant is coming back to Westport-- Since the Corner Restaurant, a Westport mainstay, closed about three years ago, Michael Pfeifer said he had made it his mission to reopen it. He watched as other deals fell through. Then the landlord renovated the building at 4059 Broadway, and inte...

Re: Downtown energy.
Sustained energy is always tough w/o an event....on a typical tuesday night with no event, just not going to be that many residents out, no matter how many live down here....not sure that's any different than 99% of other cities in the nation. Been over this a ton of times but Crossroads is hard du...

Re: Downtown energy.
I was just talking to my girlfriend about this. We live downtown and walk around downtown constantly...but there really isn't that much to do downtown besides eating and big events. I think the most obvious thing missing from downtown is retail. More people moving downtown might help Cordish fill up...

Re: 2012-2013 Big 12 College Football
Not denying that it's always fun to WIN games. I'd rather Mizzou go 14-0 than 0-12 every year, sure. But there is something to be said for "conference perception." IMO, the difference between the "conference perception" of the SEC and Big 12 is like night and day. So, you feel b...

Re: 2012-2013 Big 12 College Football
"I'd rather go winless in the SEC than undefeated in the Big 12." I don't get it. Do you watch football to cheer for a winning team, or do you watch football so that your school can pocket more money. Is this seriously where we are as fans? We would rather be aligned with "the best c...

KSU has lost one. In the grand scheme of things, losing once is better than losing fiving times. But damn, did that one loss hurt.

I usually drink beer, but this time of year I also start craving a good Hot Buttered Rum. They are common in the south, but have never seen one on a KC drink menu...anyone know of a spot in kc to get one of these? Seems like Kill Devil Club would be able to make one.

Re: P&L District: 13th & Main Site Proposal
I'm guessing it has something to do with the christmas light celebration last night, maybe a christmas tree? Don't they have some kind of holiday window painting thing that began last night on Main? I know there was a christmas light celebration at Allis Plaza...but not sure if P&L was involved.

Re: Pickwick Plaza (10th and McGee) Put Up For Sale; Market
The buildings on 9th, between Cherry and Holmes would be nice redevelopment projects (think one is the Blackstone Hotel). It's too bad there isn't much of a building stock for the East Village redevelopment to utilize. One of my favorite parts about Quality Hill are the old mansions mixed in with th...

Looks awesome. I'm sure the information is in another thread, but is there any planned retail in this development?
