Re: Crossroads Hotel
while downtown has an overabundence of empty retail the crossroads does not. you won't see a mcdonalds there I don't think. but a name brand quick casual spot would be perfect. while I like local chains, many people will go straight to a known chain in a strange city. Old Market Omaha has a Pepperj...

If the royals win today, they will be 18-13 vs the AL east which would be the best record vs AL East teams

Re: Crossroads Hotel
Edit: By the way, here's Chartwell's website . It seems they've developed only five hotels (though they manage as many more), all in typical suburban hotel settings, except for one in a rehabbed historic building in small-town Pennsylvania. I think you have the wrong Chartwell, pretty sure its this...

Looks like this will be the first hotels in Missouri for Chartwell Portfolio. There will now be 3 Residence Inns in a 4 mile stretch of KC

Re: chicago - the best city in the midwest
Sorry, I thought I had put this in the Chicago/KC Expressway thread. Yeah, I am use to taking 35 to 80 but I am really getting sick of the truck traffic and slow pokes on 80. I think i will just stick to 35 to 36/72 to I-55

Re: chicago - the best city in the midwest
Has anyone taken this route to Chicago? I will be heading to chicago Friday but I was thinking I-72 to I-55 would be faster, the CKC route seems like it would zig zag through small towns once you hit the Illinois border North to I-80

Re: Ballpark Village v4.7 (st. louis)
Vacant Space wouldn't exist or be greatly reduced with a Land Value Tax. Lets say we charge a tax that is 10 times higher on an empty lot/vacant/unproductive building vs if the lot had a productive building on it, i guarantee you whoever owns that land is going to try to do something with this empty...

Re: Ballpark Village v4.7 (st. louis)
Ballpark Village and Detroit are perfect examples of why we need to have a land value tax instead of taxing property. It seems so backwards that people/corporations can just sit on mountains of land with little risk while they wait for something to develop. If these empty lots were taxed higher Capi...

Re: OFFICIAL: Gumbel Condos
Hampton Inn's are not really that prevalent in downtown areas in most cities, i mainly see them off highways next to cracker barrells. If they wanted to make a boutique style, hotel Indigo would have been a perfect brand and i don't believe there are any IHG brand hotels downtown. I would actually ...

Re: 50s/Main development
I think a solid ownership and management group like Nick and Jakes will finally keep a restaurant here for a long time. If this fails then I don't know if anything will be able to survive there.
Wonder if 810 Zone would have been interested in this property when they pulled out of the plaza location.

Re: Rankings, lists, and such
Our Metros in the US are way to large to even be compared to European Cities/Metros. You could most likely fit the metros of Brussels, Lyon, Antwerp, Nice, Bordeaux, and Marseilie all within the Boundaries of KC and be leftover with Platte County to spare. Brussels is a very dense metro, in some spo...

It seems like it went to crap once the Original Chef left, not sure where the original chef even wentsmh wrote:Man, Hickok's went downhill fast. That place was pretty tasty (and I thought promising) for a while. But boy did it go to shit towards the end.

Re: The KCMO School District
I really hope the Midtown Community School Initiative can get something accomplished. They might have a more difficult time than the Hale Cook group, without the advantage of the leader being married to a school board member. What are the options for locations of the school? Derrick Thomas was brou...
