"won't" would have been more appropriate. it's the mini-highway that allows downtown workers to escape to midtown quickly.anniewarbucks wrote: Whats to say that they can't?

Re: Official: KCMO Light Rail
Wouldn't commuter rail on the already existent tracks work just as well (depending on how busy those tracks are) and be way cheaper? Put a stop in Lee's Summit, Raytown, TSC, River Market and run some extra trains on gamedays. it would be a lot cheaper if tracks still existed. my understanding is t...

Re: OFFICIAL: Troost BRT
it was decided to run brt past tmc (as route 25 has done since construction of the troost bridge over brw drive forced a re-route) rather than serve it with a 25 local. route 25 now jogs back over to troost, but that's as much to pick up ata drivers (who will relieve other drivers downtown) as to...

Re: OFFICIAL: Troost BRT
I've heard this will become a reality soon. Does anyone have a map (with stops) of the proposed route? It would be logical to include stops at 18th & Vine Jazz District, Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art/Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center, UMKC/Rockhurst College, the KC Zoo, and the futur...

Re: DTBOW: Restaurants
a standard format for such things at the beginning of every review would be helpful. burying that shit five pages deep in a thread will make this great idea fizzle fast.KCPowercat wrote: Would be a good way to gather info about hours, payment, menus, scene, etc...which could be done in the reviews.

1737 McGee
according to this brief from the biz journal: Tom Levitt of Levitt Enterprises Inc., who owns a former car dealership at 1737 McGee St., said he wants to spend $6.4 million to turn the four-story building into about 42,000 square feet of street-level stores and upper-story offices . The Kirkwood bui...

URGENT: New/Small Starts Funding Under Attack
this could have a direct impact on KC's ability to garner federal matching funds for light rail! ACTION ALERT: New New Starts Capital Transit Project Rules Would Fund High Occupancy Toll Lanes This would diminish the ability of cities to get funding from an already crowded grant program. HOT Lanes q...

Re: Official: KCMO Light Rail
Not a bad idea. A line adjacent to the TSC also would allow its lots to be used for park and ride, although I-70 traffic and downtown parking rates both would have to get outrageous before most people would consider an alternative to just driving the rest of the way. has anyone ever seen ridership ...

Re: Official: KCMO Light Rail
chingon, Well spoken. That's probably very close to what will be proposed (IMHO). I still think taking advantage of the old Rock Island line out to the TSC would be cool though. Granted, cool is all it would be, but it also opens the possibility of extending the service down that same right-of-wa...

Maybe even feature multiple...like restaurant of the week, retailer of the week, bar of the week. and service provider of the week... like t...

Re: just how shady is midtown, esp. main and broadway?
39th and Main for some reason has (even in the 1960's) always seemed to need a dusting of psych meds. Must be quite a few half-way or re-introduction houses in the area. isn't it one of the only east-west bus routes with frequent service every day? i always assumed it was because of that. 43rd str...

117 W. 14th Street also has a demo permit filed on it. That is the parking garage on the SE corner of Wyandotte and 14th that is owned by KC Power & Light. DECO Co. is doing both demolitions. http://kivaweb.kcmo.org/kivanet/2/permit/summary/index.cfm?pid=1274364&jur=KCMO isn't that the mid...
