Re: The Legends Theater

Yes, I agree it's lame to brag about stadium seating anymore. You might as well trump having stereo sound. I used to live in Springfield, Missouri and a megaplex that opened there in 1996 bragged about having stadium seating for years, and they only had it in a handful of auditoriums. Later they con...

Re: The Legends Theater

NOt the westglen, which was built after 1996. So much for you claim of "every theatre". Wrong! The WestGlen opened in the summer of 1995. It was a HUGE success at first, which prompted the badly-designed add-on of stadium auditoriums a few years later. By the way, The Star has a nice arti...

Re: The Legends Theater

KCK could easily support a single theater, come on.  I'm just amazed it had to be built for free and AMC or Dickison didn't want any part of it. What happened to WestGlen?  When that first opened, it was one of the nicest theaters in town and very busy, they quickly expanded it.  We always went the...

Re: The Legends Theater

Actually I believe the Legends theatre opens next Friday. I went last Saturday to the T-bones stadium to get my two free tickets. I only waited in line for about 45 minutes. 2 tickets at about 8 dollars each, 16 bucks in 45 minutes, not bad for a poor college student. As for the comparisons to the ...

Re: The Legends Theater

The Legends Theatre opened this weekend. Anyone go? I'm a skeptic, but the advertisement really didn't make it sound all that different from anything else in KC. The operator is a no-name which says a lot. And they have a 4-story screen? AMC 30 has an IMAX now. Isn't that already checkmate? I think...

Re: Legends tenants

"First of all Borders is not an upscale bookstore LOL. Books a million is probably being pursued because they are in a Kansas city expansion phase with another proposed location in Merriam Pt shopping center. The other chains are done expanding in the Kansas city area and don't want to cannibal...

Re: Cornerstone of Leawood

Recently drove past the Cornerstone project. Looks like nothing has happened since Ted's Montana was finished. The larger building in the rear of the project almost looks abandoned. Half the steel seems to have been up for six months now, with no new progress. Is Leawood being too strict with the ki...

Re: Legends tenants

I think it is telling that one of the tenants they are going after is a DISCOUNT bookstore chain. Why wouldn't Borders or Barnes & Noble be interested if this was going to be such an "upscale" center? Also, I hope the movie theater is great but the theater developer from Wichita (who d...

Re: AMC retrofitting 5 cities theatres for IMAX incl. Omaha AND KC

It was a very good image, and I'd say, yes, it was worth the $9. If you can sit in the exact center of the theater to get the full effect (and the movie doesn't suck, of course).

Re: AMC retrofitting 5 cities theatres for IMAX incl. Omaha AND KC

I saw "Batman Begins" on Sunday in IMAX at the Olathe 30. Surprisingly, they had retrofitted one of the four big auditoriums (off the main lobby). It's the same auditorium where they had the digital projection previously. The image was excellent, BTW, and they had nearly a full house (at 1...
