Re: Real Estate Listings of Interest (Metrowide)
Belvidere, does anyone ask the developers about building townhouses in a neighborhood association with mandatory common fees versus building old-style zero setback townhouses wall-to-wall that are individually-owned, not in a neighborhood association, and have no commons fees? I ask because this oft...

Re: 1822 Main Redevlopment
I should have been more specific in that the new design makes subtle reference to streamline moderne art deco in its use of vertical bands. The vertical bands didn't exist in previous designs. Please don't make me post a bunch of examples of buildings from the art deco era in Miami that don't have p...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project
what was the scope of the study? Crossing the RR is one problem but even using industrial is pretty treacherous and I wouldn't recommend anybody walk it currently. It's a little hard to define. We went in with the idea that we might get something like a Town of Kansas bridge. We had hoped that Spir...

Re: Columbus Park Redevelopment
I'm surprised they didn't go for a 3-story above the front grade instead of 2-story. It could have been a 3-story with basement. That could have made it possible to create a multi-generational house. I think that would sell quickly in a neighborhood with people of Italian and Vietnamese descent.

Yeah we need more rowhouse in KC but I wouldn't touch those due to the proximity to the highway. Glad they got built though! The six acres in Columbus Park around 4th and Gillis should be all rowhouses. We are looking at 3 plots of land near CP Lofts are are likely to be townhomes and live/work spa...

The new front of the building has an art deco design.
I still maintain they could have reused the facade of the old bank building in their design.

Re: NYC Migrants Are Being Welcomed by Kansas City’s Mayor to Fill Jobs
The mayor said on TV yesterday that the migrants must have work permits. The action was taken because local employers have difficulty finding workers to fill positions. He also mentioned large construction projects that needed laborers. He means construction projects that need CHEAP laborers. There...

You can thank the mayor for the state treating us like their red headed step child KC has received short shrift from Missouri for a long time and over the tenures of many mayors. St Louis has the advantage (at least St Louis County) of being the locus of the metro's wealth where several large corpo...

Re: Affordable Housing
More houses might be placed on the market if there were targeted developments for rental and owner dwellings for seniors. They could take their cash from the sale and buy their new smaller home, so the interest rate issue might not apply to them. Many seniors stay in large family homes. There might...

Re: Affordable Housing
I doubt the number of migrants will have a significant effect on the cost of housing in KC. Factors having a much greater effect are Interest rates, the lack of experienced developers, the lack of construction workers, and the escalating cost of building materials. Migrants taking construction jobs ...
