Re: OFFICIAL - Federal Reserve HQ construction
Anybody know who owns that little strip of land wedged in between Main and the southward terminus of Grand Street (see aerial photo)? Crown Center? If development, from this point forward, was done smartly in that area, that block would make a nice public place (fountain, monument, park etc...), ...

But I think they have grown out of that.

Re: Our transit system is still worthless and useless
I hope they add this really cool feature that they have out at the Lee's Summit Crossings. If you park at one of the pad site restruants along Chipman, and then you decide to walk to Borders after your meal, with your baby in a stroller, you get to do it without sidewalks. That right, a brand new sh...

Re: OFFICIAL: 17 story Crossroads condo tower (was: Big Vacancy in the Crossroa
The top of that hill is taller than many of the buildings in the crossroads. I would think you could put a bunch of 8-10 story building in that valley and not block any veiw of/from the PAC. I don't really want to see anything taller than that outside the loop anyway. We need our highrises clustered...

Make sure the seats are nice a wide so people will have enough room for their fat lazy butts. Leaving the people who probably really need to ride to fend for themselves.

i said the same thing about his AAA starts, but, plain and simple, many MANY major leaguers go to AAA for rehab, or whatever, and look like ass. schilling got ripped in AAA last year. it happens. is elvys in that caliber of pitcher? probably not. but, he did dominate the twins tonite. perhaps the 3...

Re: Des Moines: New 13 story mixed use building
1. All three of those bands are well established (except maybe Bright Eyes) and continue to sell records. I think 311 has like 10 albums out. 2. And most of those "professional muscians" play other people music at a sub-par level. And you speak of "selling to 17-22 year olds,&quo...

Definitely closer, but still not close. Bleh. No, the answer for me, if they won't let me work from home 95% of the time, is to find another job. Also, I'd love to have a job for which the commute could be done by walking, taking the bus, or cycling. My new job, that I start in a couple of weeks, w...

Re: Drivers switch to Public Transit
Actually, V-8 can be more efficient than 4 bangers for two reasons. One, gas milage is more effected by how the car is geared than by the size of the engine, so if you are light on the pedal you can make better use of that torque at lower speeds. Two, many V-8 now have smart ignition so at higher sp...

Re: Develop the area around the TSC?
The bigest problem for this area is Skip Slyster. That dude owns thousands of aecers along 40 from the blue river to Blue Ridge Cutoff. He has been holding it out of speculation and the only businesses he has put on it are trailer parks, cheep motels and a strip club. Once he dies off things will ho...
