Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
Speed up or slow down the release from the Union Station stop. If there is a big gap going north from US, send the car early. The one behind it will be close behind to meet the demand.

Re: Westside happenings
Tax freeze for Westside and tax increase for neighborhoods along the streetcar line. Where is the equity?

1914 Main will be the first of the new construction buildings to be redone. I give it 10 years before the aluminum siding comes off.

Of course, add some streetfront retail and it looks like 1914 Main to me.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
Those actually look like logical stops though I'd probably dump the Fed stop. The CC stop is right there. Not sure why you'd need two. Surprised at the Linwood elimination as that is a major connector east, but Armour and 31st are fairly close. A Linwood stop would be used more than a Fed stop two b...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
Are we just talking about midtown consolidations or other stops as well? 43rd and 45th combined? Federal Reserve and 31st?

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
I assume that north and south stops will not be directly across from each other as they are for the Max stops now. That way, you average the walk distances for those in the area. You walk to the stop going to the streetcar might be 4 blocks, but when you come back it might be the opposite direction ...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
^ It sounds like the lights are the issue, not the stops. Also, you are looking at the longest run on the new line section. There will be many people that will be running a much smaller route than the maximum and the extra walking distance would take more time than the saving of 1-2 stops.

Re: East Side Development
^ Will be interesting to see. I think the 71 barrier is bigger than you probably do and think development will turn south between 71 and Paseo before we actually see a jump of the highway. Where you mention would definitely be the first place that it would move east of 71.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
So, the talking points is that Midtown has to pay because we get the benefit but then you want the residents to have to walk longer distances to get to spread out stops? And just so a DT apartment dweller can get to the Plaza 1 minute quicker?DaveKCMO wrote: Good luck convincing midtown of that strategy.

Re: East Side Development
There will become a tipping point, and I think it could happen fairly quickly, where the barrier of Troost becomes less of an issue for redevelopment and restoration of housing. There are less and less houses that need significant reconstruction west of Troost currently as most that were in disrepai...

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L
Wow, I didn't realize they were going to tear it down and build new. I thought they were just going to add a rooftop deck from the first floor kind of like Westport Ale House. Do we have pictures of what the new building will look like?

We do have a French magnet school, Academie Lafayette, in the city. Perhaps that was a draw for getting a bilingual French/English workforce in the future?

Re: East Side Development
Maybe, we could build a streetcar line through the East side to connect it with the rest of the city and spur development and perhaps even connect to the sports stadiums......oh, wait.
