Who would choose the Reverse spot when the Baja 600 spot remains vacant?  That patio is a money-maker no matter what goes in.

Mama's burns...

Couldn't find anything on this, but last week (Tuesday?) there was a fire at Mama's on 39th/SW Tfwy.  A guy that works at Missie B's said it was electrical and wasn't sure what the plan for remodeling was.  It's currently boarded up, as is the barber shop next door.

I can see Van Tuyl razing the office portion and building something along the lines of his original proposal that was rejected by the neighbors.

Was down there yesterday and smelled it - it's from the manure they put in all of the flowerbeds.  Today's rain should help things quite a bit.

Heard on the news last night that Clay Chastain will be back in KC in a few weeks  #-o getting petitions signed for his latest light rail initiative which would interact with the commuter rail plan.

Re: Democracy

Both parties love this because they each perpetuate each other.  Every issue becomes us or them, right or left, black and white.  In reality, there are very few issues which are one dimensional to the point of requiring a line in the sand.  Politicians can't run against murky grey areas, so they pr...

Should have had someone at the American Royal and KS Speedway over the weekend getting people to sign up to support KC's bid.

Here's the thing about the Maloof's and their options.... 4. Louisville is farther away than Kansas City, so I don't see it as an option. I pretty much agree with your argument, except for this piece. Louisville's new arena has approximately the same number of suites, capacity of 22,000 and would b...

Re: Top 3 Movies You've Watched in the Past Month

Funny Games - this was pretty twisted, but i thought breaking the fourth wall was completely unnecessary... the movie is already so stylized and playing with conventions that just going that extra step took me completely out of the movie.  I guess that's part of the point... but i thought it could ...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

St Louis has two stores, I believe.  I had a friend in the retail industry and they told me that H&M pulled out of their plans to put a store in Village West a few years back when the StL stores weren't meeting initial retail projections.  Comparing the StL stores to almost any H&M's around ...

Re: Polsinelli Shuhart HQ @ 47th/Broadway

Also, if any building goes over the garage at the height proposed those apartments just lost their view which would probably result in lower rents which results in a lower value and so on. You've got to imagine the residents of Townsend Place can't be too happy about losing their views to the east ...

I read somewhere that new traffic lights are supposed to be installed so that each lane has a signal above it.  I think exceptions are made for designated boulevards.

Re: UMKC Name Change

So the California College system is filled with mediocrity because of the way their schools are named? Who is it that would be impressed with a name change? BTW, my oldest sister was in the last graduating class of KCU before it became UMKC. When did I insinuate anything about the California system...

Re: UMKC Name Change

I don't get it.  We got to change the name of KCMO since Kansas is in the name people think it is in Kansas instead of MO.  Because it is called UMKC people don't know where it is or that UMKC has a bad connotation to it. Just by changing a name you think that will solve a problem. Yeah, other Mo s...

Re: Metcalf Redevelopment

They slap a new name on that older plan for Metcalf South (The Streets of Metcalf, I believe, even with the same "Concept" drawing), and move it North across 95th Street??? Is this some tactic to get Macy's and Sears to play along? Weird. I'm confused about this, too - anyone have more in...
