Re: Urbanism, architecture, transit, strawmen, etc.
An interesting article. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/thousands-of-u-s-cities-could-become-virtual-ghost-towns-by-2100/ "The Urban U.S. could look very different in the year 2100, in part because thousands of cities might be rendered virtual ghost towns. According to findings publ...

There is a 100mph train from Kortrijk to Antwerp that leaves every hour. No reason Missouri couldn't have a train service comparab...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Nobody is I've got to get off this forum. I'm really trying to offer up information and insight that no one else can, surely you understand what I mean. There was some pushback 20 years ago with building PNL and the arena. Many people said it would ruin downtown, change the urban fabric and have a ...

not to mention rail is pretty much at capacity, and the roads aren't doing that much better. Moving all that to rail and road would overwhelm the system.

Re: Missouri bill would change name of I-70 & I-44
His district covers part of I-44. He's mad that 44 isn't getting upgraded to three lanes. Performative pandering to his base. Bill has already passed to widen 70. Change all the signs on 44 to 70, and like a Loony Tunes cartoon, they widen between St. Louis and Joplin instead.

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
La Ramblas is 47 M wide, Nicols rd is 22 M. 47th 32 M. Love the concept, but I don't think there is a way to do anything significant in the median of any of the Plaza streets. La Ramblas, and Barcelona in general, was fantastic as a pedestrian. I think they did a cut and cover down La Ramblas for th...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
could have been in context to closing all of the streets or something to that effect. Or perhaps giving the streets a major road diet to still allow for a single lane of one way traffic, who knows? But I believe most of the renderings and presentations thus far have supported creating some areas as...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project
any idea why they left for AZ in the first place? Just looking to get to a better climate? Looking at Western States/ West Coast as a better fit for their product/brand? Honestly I would think cost to operate in AZ much higher than KC. But who knows. Probably the person making the acquisition lives...

Re: Proposed UMKC on campus arena.
5 thousand seats is way smaller than you might imagine. This is a rendering of the new 5 thousand seat arena that the Arizona Coyotes will be playing in. (Why are they still in Arizona?) The Independence arena is 5,800 seats for reference and cost $60 million in 2009 I think they'd be better off go...

Re: Proposed UMKC on campus arena.
My understanding is there was a mixed-use aspect to it. Retail for certain and maybe housing. They determined the revenue from those uses would not pay the bonds at the current spending levels. Also revenue from private events. "analysis of the proposals showed that the proposed private develop...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Bi-state stuff = 1 (Union Station) This stuff is hard. I'd rather save bi-state for something that lifts the region, rather than just benefits rich team owners and players. Yeah, I get the whole eco spin off line but nothing says it will *improve* the region's economy to have them at TSC vs VW and ...

Re: North Plaza Hotel- 46th and Broadway
Yes The hydrant. You wouldn't put a hydrant in the middle of the street. The vegetation island is RIGHT THERE, just extend it over. Old sidewalk can be fixed, landscaping can too. That hydrant is never moving. It’s a lot more difficult to move a hydrant than just “put it over there” for what it’s w...

Yes The hydrant. You wouldn't put a hydrant in the middle of the street. The v...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Kansas city is weird as well because like no one watches them? I know not literally, but they're not easy to watch. Because Google is so popular here and the team is so shit, most people don't bother. So many people I would visit would have them on in the background, but now I never see them on. Th...

I've done a 180 on this. Kansas can have them for 25 years. Let them carry the water for a change. They will move back and the cycle continues.

I haven't seen a police officer enforcing traffic laws in KC in years. What's the point of a new traffic law if there's no one to enforce it? I guess you can use it in the lawsuit?
