Melting Pot
I just has a post-Valentine's dinner at City Tavern on Saturday night. I had been there twice before shortly after they opened last year. They changed the menu a bit in the meantime, and I must say that I was pretty disappointed with this last experience. If you're craving fresh oysters, then its pr...

Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction
The Mayor spoke at last night's RevUpKC meeting. She spent a lot of time talking about the arena. Some of the highlights: - 18 to 20,000 seats based upon expert opinion. - No NBA or NHL tenant. - Building design will allow for additional amenities (seats) to be added in the future if needed for a Pr...

Al Dente - River Market area
I've eaten there a couple times, usually on a Saturday afternoon after visiting the market. Each time, I had a sandwich, which wasn't too bad. Service was hit or miss - definitely not a strong point. Given the choice, there are much better restaurants in the market, but many are closed at night. Wal...

Kirkwood development is awesome!
It should be very nice for the prices they are charging. Empty lots for $400,000 +, condos go over a million bucks! I hope sales go well as it should help other developers get the courage to create more new urban housing. It seems like most of the recent developments have been fairly high end - Cono...

Kona Grill
Its not too bad. I had the sushi. I don't think it was any better than other sushi in town, but pretty tasty. The interior is a bit bland, but the bathrooms have some neat glass tiles and a real interesting granite sink. The bar seems to be a very popular place. Some good specials from 11pm-1am.

Houlihan's moving out of the Plaza?
Just another example of Nichols/Highwoods making it more difficult for the local merchant to be a player at their properties. They will soon succeed at having malls just like every mall in the country. I read in the Pitch some time ago that Houlihan's was having trouble and was trying desparately to...

Kirkwood Circle Development
Just found a little bit of information about the project on the architect's website at http://www.nhdkm.com/images_menu/d_projectsinprogress/kirkwood/pip_kirkwood.html . Many of the units are now listed in the MLS and, not surprisingly, this is going to be a pretty pricey place to live. Prices range...

Tough call, but I picked LC's. The Q is outstanding and the fries are among the best I've ever had. Jack's Stack comes in 2nd - good meats, huge menu variety and the best baked beans you'll ever taste. Gates rounds out the top 3 - its sometimes hit or miss - but the sauce is a winner.
